Ok , I get it ! its not the gap diff on the pin end that you see that matters , its the center of the rod beam that is wrong . And causes the rod to flex sideways . When the rod flexes the piston tilts in the bore and wears . Anyone want a set of 5.85 oliver rods ? Matching set / new bolts ? Sold to me by Mark A.

Here is a picture of a failed stroker using chevy rods . the piston coating failed . So if the rod offset is so bad why dosent the scoring pattern indcate a front-rear issue ? About 10k on the motor.

Obviously you can screw up an engine in more than one way..

Correct, kinda.

Its the center of the rod beam that is wrong
---
Nope.

And causes the rod to flex sideways
---
Kinda, but not really.

When the rod flexes the piston tilts in the bore and wears
---
Turn that around into "The piston pushes on the rod off center, and flexes the rod" and you're good.

A rod is an Ibeam...for the most part.
Theyre strong as heck in a straight line along their length in this configuration. They dont take Lateral-torsional loads (from the side), but only concentric axial loads..I think?..me and kollege didnt do well.

Not so much if loaded off center. It'll bend.

I don't know what a K1 rod is but assuming it's a modern Chevy rod, it's symetyrical and what you are seeing is the difference between the cylinder bank offset and rod width. The rod would be offset in the piston by about .5mm which looks to be about what you have going on there.

Why do you say it's asymetrical?

I think that a loose pinch bolt on the back of the torque tube, is what caused those rods to bend.
