Default Hood hinge

Can't find this one in a search. One of my hinges won't open properly. You have to lift the back of the hood gently, then the hinge will work fine. The pivots all seem to be in good condition (no slop) & a new strut did not fix this. Is there an adjustment for the hood hinges? They look like they are just bolted in one place & I don't see any shims. From working on other cars, you can fix this by shimming the hinge. Hood position when closed is good. The hinge acts like it is closing slightly too much and is over center. Thank you.

Have you lubricated each joint of the hinge with engine oil or a good penetrant/lube (not WD-40!)?

what Wally said^^^^^^
do both sides,
it may take a few days for the oils to soak in,
open and close the hood gently to assist this,
and apply oil a few times,
the hinges will come back to life

This happened with mine a few years back, what I did was remove the hinge from the car and let it sit in a bucket of diesel, (or your favourite freeing agent) next day it was pivoting as new, after oiling the moving parts of the hinge. i now regularly lube it with engine oil and no problems.

Yeah, a number of times I have been confronted with hoods that would not align, would seem to stick only in one place, so the owners didn't think it was as simple as a lube issue, but a few sprays on the pivot points totally fixed it.

+1 on what Bill said. The hood on my 80 got crimped by a PO because the hinges were sticky. A bit of oil was all it needed.
