Thomas, there is a spec clearance for this. Next time I have access to thw WSM I'll try to dig it up for you. It's taken at the mount.

I picked up a assortment of shims at Tacoma screw and some very strong TT pinch bolts.

I had shims on mine and I remember the right hand side was a PITA to remove and replace.
