Trans mount clearance
Sounds like your tranny mounts are collapsed. I know mine are bad but i still have about 1/4 an inch clearance on mine. should be at least an inch of clearance from what ive heard. add shims to level each side when replacing. Im sure someone could give you better specs than me as i cant seem to find much in pet or the wsm
Best of luck,
Jonathan.

Jeff, did you have to disconnect the axles to get your mounts off? I also was told by someone that the driveshaft bearings usually are damaged by the fact that the mounts are collapsed, is that true?

FWIW there were no shims on mine and no need to add them. Others have experienced the same. YMMV.
I removed the wheel and used a long extension with a knuckle joint. And still it was a PITA.

From what i was reading in the wsm, the spacers were only used as needed to make sure and level inbalances in the mounts were corrected. If the the parts are good, Id imagine no need but good to have a couple of each side on hand during replacement just incase.
