Drewster,
I didn't know Rich was selling his OB. Didn't he just get it?

Cronin,
Tell us more about your find, after the smoke settles....

Aren't all the syncros going on the old ones. Rare to hear that they shift like butter!

Any OB that you buy or most for that matter will end up costing a lot of money to get you where you want to go.

My car still needs so much work on little stuff, and some big stuff.........a/c heat
etc. Sometime I want to sell it and buy a better example of the 928 but then I realize that I owe it to her to bring her back to her glory and maybe even better!!

Probably cost around 20k. or more!

Yep,
I picked up the 1978 from Geffen. IT broke down about 7 hours into ownership and is now in the shop. I dont know if Geffen was actually aware of any issues with the car, you have to drive these cars and this one was sitting for a while. Once I get the car back I will be sure to post more. Thanks to everyone on Rennlist for the help I am always amazed at how kind 928 guys are!

Ouch... Well I'm sure the shop bill will show you why most of us here on the list perform our own maintenance.

Hope it's nothing serious.

I can tell you that no one was more suprised than me when you called Friday night. I can also assure you than I knew of no problems with that car. That is not how I conduct business. When we spoke about the car...You might remember that I said the last thing I wanted was someone to be disappointed in this 928. I don't know what went wrong.....I would have driven it anywhere. I owned it for 17+ years.....I hope you can enjoy it for a long time also.

What exactly happened to it?

I've got one that sat 10 years and its now a DD.

Just needed a bit of TLC. And to be driven.

The more it gets driven, the better it runs.

The only OB that really looks and fits the discription of a shark is Erik N's when he lets it swim with the dorsal fin in position. A real blood in the water shark.

Look for one likes Erik's!

+928

I try to drive a different one everyday to keep their blood circulating, so to speak.

Listen to Bill--and also make sure the shop knows 928's (if they say-yeah I remember workin' on one 20 years ago-not good!). Geffen and those here will know if a shop knows.

These cars are not complicated (except for electrics) for those who know them, but the last thing you want is someone working on them who is going to learn on the job and may mistake a simpler issue like a relay for a starter motor, battery or oxygen sensor problem.

Good luck!

Just an update - repair should be done early next week. I am hoping to get it back on the road asap. The plan is to keep this a "virgin Euro" as original as possible. Big thanks to Jim Doer for all the help on this one - and no ill will to Geffen as the issues were not apparent at point of sale.
If not for repairing these things how fun would ownership really be right?

What where the issues? You can let it out, we are your support system, we all came here for the same reason. The first step down this journey together is "TO TELL US WTF HAPPENED".
