If your rotors are worn, the lip that sometimes develops on the outer circumference of the rotor can cause a *very* annoying screech.

This lip can be easily felt when the brakes are cool. Careful, it may be sharp!

Just put on some anti-sieze! Easy cheap fast and it will shut them up. Don't get any on the pad faces or rotors. On the groves where the pads slide too!

Good luck.

I have tried various brands of pads and f your going to replace them use the one's from Roger. I would have the rotors ground if there is enough left and go with new pads. I cannot tell you the difference a pad makes when my wife says honey the car is not stopping like it did before, I took notice!

Washing the car seems to help for a short time. Taking high speed runs and short quick stops helps for a very short time. Cruising on the highway at 60 with one foot soft on the brake and the other still on the accelerator helps for a short time...but recently, the banshees return with all too unappreciated frequency.
Should I just buy a new set of rotors and pads and be done with it or do i just need pads with 'dampers' or something? How do I know if it is the pads or the rotors.
Please help me before this beautiful car is full of buckshot.

OK so you are not comfortable doing the work your self?
Maybe someone can come over and give you a hand.
no matter how you deside to get it fixed
as a mechanic I would say
You need to have the glaze removed from your rotors by replacing them or by having them machined.

Also the pads more then likely have been chared from you riding the brakes and over heating them. They get a charcoal finish which will sgueel like a rock on a blackboard.

Summery needs new pads and rotors or new pads and the rotors machined. I am sure any corner garage can do it but do your self and your car a favor and make sure it is a repritable shop with a licenced mechanic, not a speedy brake stop shop.

Call a member close to you and save the labor and buy the parts from Roger is the least expencive way to go.

now that kinda comment just invites all sorts of Amsoil vs Mobil 1 or Torque vs HP type discussion as 'someone' shall state that an appropriate calibre rifle should be used or calibre of shotgun pellets etc etc

Thanks Jerome (PM sent) and all. not knowing exactly what to look for i went and looked at the rotors. they do seem to have a small 'lip' around the edge but nothing extreme. but for all i know this is too much. having them machined seems like a good option rather than buying new ones. everyone keeps referring to Roger but is there a direct link to his shop? sounds like the best way to go.
