My new incoming 91 has the design 90 wheels on, which as I understand the rears are 9's. What I'm thinking is putting my 17 Cup II's on with the summer tires and changing the 16"s with winter tires as this will be my daily driver. While Vancouver does not really get a lot of snow, the times you need winter tires, you really need them. I have had good luck with Blizzaks for the past winters on the other cars, but with I have searched left and right for winters in the stock size of 245 and they are not to be found anywhere. So will a 225/16 fit the 9" wheels or its way too small? Any other thoughts?

i ran 275s on the rear 9s of my cup 2 wheels back in the day. no issues.

225/50-16 Winter tires fit fine on the 9'' D90.
