How much slop in 82 5spd shifter? VIDEO
This is the only 928 5spd I have ever been in. How much movement of the stick in gear is normal? I have replaced front ball cup bushing. Would this be fixed if I replaced the rear coupler? The linkage around the stick looks sound. Gunar

Gunar,
I just did the front cup and rear coupler bushings (928'sRus supplied) last month. My shifter was as sloppy as yours and then one day what was left of the rear coupler bushing fell out into the drive way.
Job was painless as the much hated conical screw came right out of mine and the new delrin bushings press in easily. Getting the new boot on was the biggest PITA.
Shifter is now very positive and no slide to side slop at all.

My '80 is similar to yours, the short shift kit helps a great deal
But to this day I really have to PUSH it into second, not so bad in 3rd and 4th and 5th are Ok.
Yesterday I made a somewhat rapid shift into third getting on the freeway and I felt
the clutch slip a bit... Is it trying to tell me something?

David,
Once you land in Texas and start driving my GTS auto you will eat your words.
Besides the only box I need in in your avatar.

Bob,
We offer the stock bushings with the elongated hole for $4 each.
We also have the delrin bushes with no elongation - read round - for about $15 or so each.
