Default Illuminated Window Switch Second Generation !

Hello everyone,

this is the introduction of the second generation of our illuminated window switch panel.

The first generation is a great success and Hans and I want to thank you all for your support on that project.

While it is still current, works extremely well and is very versatile, the first generation panel was very time consuming to produce, relied on external modules for the basic functions and, from the feedback we received, was overkill for many users.

Therefore, Hans decided to design our own module, that would supply the panel with all the factory functions as a standalone unit. We also decided to lower the cost of the plug & play option and include the factory connectors, to make it as easy as possible to upgrade the factory switches to the new lighted panel.

This is the new kit:

The kit covers all model years up through 1989 and contains everything you need to replace the factory switches. Cost is $189.00 + shipping

This panel is also fully upgradable and is also designed to interact with DEI modules for those who want to go beyond the factory functions and add one-touch and/or express functions to their system.

The DEI modules are now available through eBay at incredible prices and detailed instructions to integrate a DEI 530T to this kit is supplied in the manual

Both the first and second generation manuals are now online and can be found here: http://www.designpaulchampagne.com/S...tallation1.htm
Just click on the "Up to 1989 second generation panel" link

A version of this kit designed especially for those who simply want to replace the factory switches and keep the factory look and functions, will be carried by our friends at 928sRUS. Just call Roger, he will have stock shortly.

For those who still want to customize their kit and/or want to modify/add functions, drop me an email directly at champagn@stx.rr.com
Parts and on the shelves waiting to be customized for you

Thank you all again for your continued support to this and our other projects

Paul

I'll set about rigging the canopy to blow so I can still safely arm the ejection seat.
Nice!

What does this one look like?

Also, please refresh my memory on the surround/frame. Can you or Roger supply one with the switch kit?

Bill,
FWIW, I'd seen one installed on a vinyl console w/o the bezel, and it looked really nice!

Anxiously awaiting the AC head unit !!!!!

To answer a couple question and comments:

This new module works 100% stand-alone for all STOCK functions. So, the way the kit is delivered, it will replicate normal switch activity. You will notice an improved speed of window actuation, as the dirty factory open contacts have been replaced with very nice sealed relays.

The DEI 530T module, which was required on the first generation kit, is now optional. If you want to add express/one-touch operation you can add a 530T at any time. We include all the connectors to quickly integrate this with your installation, allowing the units to be sourced at your favorite e-tailer (such as Amazon) as our costs on this unit have gone up, and are now well above that through common online sources.

There are many other convenience improvements with this new version, which are detailed in the first section of the on-line manual posted to Paul's site, and also linked in my signature. To name a couple:

Dual Illumination
Express Inclusion
Relayed "Bonus Button" Output
User Reconfigurable Button Associations
Support for custom (user supplied) LEDs

I encourage all potential customers to look through the manual prior to purchase so they can take a look at all the features and ask any questions so they are comfortable with their purchase.

All switches and module configurations are made to order, allowing a high level of customization. While we do try to turn around orders as quickly as possible, custom artwork and materials do take time to source. For those who want immediate gratification and a "Lifetime" replacement for the stock switch configuration - with the additional benefit of illumination - Roger will be a stocking a drop-in system which replicates the stock functionality with in a stock textured black finish and white illumination. This version of the panel is pictured in the first post.

We will be giving away an "OEM" version of the switches at Sharks in Hell this weekend and I will be sure to take pictures of the complete version of this kit. It is very similar, but the case has solid covers, and there are less wires in the harness.

Thanks,
Hans

Bill,

everyone with a leather covered console needs the metal surround. Those with vinyl consoles can install a surround if they want, but the panel can also be used directly without it.
If you need/want one, I have some in stock and Roger probably as some as well.

The version that Roger will carry is factory black texture, with white lighting and the icons are exactly the same as the factory switches, except that we made the right window icons mirrored. So, the same as the one pictured above, but with mirrored right icons.

Paul
