Hi

Just to let you all know...I have the first version from Paul and its totally amazing...I have the modules as well.

Mine now does "all open" and "all close" which it didnt before....

It now has one touch open or close which it didnt before...

Illumination (a real nice blue on silver panel)

It also links in to my fancy talking alarm system to do total closure (both windows and sunroof) when the alarm is armed by remote.

A fantastic system and a HUGE inprovement on the old switches which I was replacing every 18 months or so....

Highly highly recommended

All the best Brett

Just got back from vacation, opened the box I got from Paul..and in about 15 minutes I had the 2nd generation switches installed and working.

I did get the leather trim insert from 928sR'us way back when it first came up, and reported to be in short supply. Im very glad I did.

I used both spacers in the kit..and im very happy.

Now..DYING to get photos of what the carputer MAY look like...gah! <--Teenage sound of happy frustration.

Cant wait for the carputer/HVAC display to tie into the window switches.

Thank you Jeff for posting the feedback. I'm happy to see that it all goes in according to plan. Hans designed a little gem of a module and it does makes things easier.
Since yours was among the first to ship, I believe you are missing the 2 little jumpers. They are only needed if you decide to fiddle around with function placing. But if you do, just drop me an email and I will forward them to you.

Thanks again

Paul

So I finally had a chance to install the window switch panel and all I have to say is...wow! What a difference!

Installation was quick and straightforward (even for a noob like myself)-truly a plug and play unit. Hans and Paul really outdid themselves.

Some photos of what it looks like in my car. I opted for white illumination and only used one spacer. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the hatch release connected to my bonus button but that's for another thread.

It seems that the DEI 530T modules are discontinued. Does anyone know of a replacement or a place to get one?

What year is your car? 1990 and later does not require the modules.

Patrick,

I am looking into this. There is an alternative module, but I think that 530T are still available, they may just be trying to strengthen the distribution network by reducing online sales.

I have an email into my district Directed representative, and will let you know what I find.

Thanks
Hans

Thanks Hans

I have a 1989 S4 and generation 2 illuminated window switches ready for installation. I look forward to hearing from you on the 530T or alternative.

Thanks
Patrick

I had purchased my 530T from SonicElectronix some time ago, just checked and they are gone.

The ScyTek WR-8-4 unit here might work though... http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i...l-modules.html

EDIT:

Did a quick Google search, this vendor appears to have them:

A slight thread detour:

I have both the old module (on 86.5) and the new module (on 87.)

Where do you guys store the modules? On the parcel shelf? That's where the old module is on the 86. The new module has been stuffed behind the right center console panel carpeting, but it doesn't look so good.
