Default Short in the "fresh air blower"

While I turn off the Car, my fresh air blower fan was still running. I thought that turning it to the off position would solve......NOPE!! drained the battery in about 10 hours at work. Ted(Cosmo Kramer) helped me diagnose the issue, got the fuse pulled(say good bye to a/c on Friday). Now I got to get it figured out so maybe I can have a/c for Sharks In Hell next week.

I'm going out to put everything back together, less that fuse, then get cleaned up and I'll chime back in around 8:30ish.

thanks for any help or direction you can provide.

Steve, the relay could be stuck pull the relay for the horn (spot XVI) and put it in the one for the fresh air blower (spot XII). See if that fixes it.

I think I still have a spare resistor pack and the heater box if you need it.

If all else fails, just put a jumper with a toggle switch on it untill after Hell.

it is the relay that has failed replace it and clean all of the fuses in the CE panel
Note there are 2 relays that operate the HVAC system you may have to replace both of them

Install Fuse #20, and see if the fan runs with the ignition switch off. If so, and the speed control changes fan speed, remove Relay XII and install Relay XIV in its place. You will lose the DEFROST function until you replace XIV, but you will have A/C and normal function otherwise. When you get a new relay (not expensive), install the new one in XII and replace XIV in its slot.

If the speed control does not change fan speed, remove Relay XIV and have a good trip. See the above paragraph for additional info.
