Looking at the PIAA website, I see (FAQ) that
Are these legal?
PIAA 9000 Series Bulbs are DOT/SAE compliant and are street legal in all 50 states and Canada.
As well, according to the PIAA website, the second wattage numbers indicate the equivalent power that is produced from these bulbs. For example, from the PIAA website (a different model of bulb but still ) "Rated at 4150K and providing 110 watts of light from only 55 watts" and "Many Xtreme White Plus headlight bulbs feature PIAA Xtra high efficiency design that produces greater light output than their rated power consumption (for example, a bulb that consumes 45/65W of electricity has a light output that is similar to most 95/120W bulbs)."
So, the current draw MAY be okay ... but I would still check.

Brad are you sure you even have H5's? if you have an ROW car isn't it equipped with H4's already? - in which case you need 9003 bulbs and my comments wouldn't apply to brighter bulbs in that configuration since the H4 cutoff is so good.
Are you sure you got the right bulbs for your car?
You will need local relays and beefed up direct supplies for these - if not - not only will you likely damage the wiring (difficult to fix) but you won't get anything like full brightness out of them due to voltage dropped across the wiring (if H5's that maybe a good thing...).

If you have 8" Bosch H4 lenses, you just need H4 60/55W Halogen bulbs (which may also be known under a 9xxx number)-

Just stay away from the blue stuff, its all hype IMHO.
I dont do much night fast driving and I find these lights quite adequate. Tempted to go bigger (100/80W), but cant be bothered with upgrading relays and wiring to suit.

H4 bulbs are usually labelled 9003 in the US (NOT 9004 - these are for H5's) return them if you can.
You can upgrade to real 100W/80W bulbs with stock wiring - but no higher - this need not be very expensive...
Local relays will stil get you brighter lights in this config.
I run H4's with 100W/80W - they are fine - even stock H4s are far far superior to the Stock H5s.

these sylvan 9004 ultra bulbs are great! what a huge difference. the light is a cleaner white and has a much better throw than whatever was in there before. should have done this a long time ago. thanks again

Ya Thanks guys, I returned them and the correct ones are on order.
I ordered the PIAA bulb that are to simulate the brighter white light but only draw 60/55

Putting stronger bulbs in them will make this even worse.
