Default Rear shocks off: How to now...

Measure the height of this assembly, to closest match height on the new HW being installed?

Id like to at least be "close" when I put in the new shocks and bolt them in.

What 2 points do I measure to, to do that?

Top surface of the upper shock mounting surface (#11 in the diagram) to the centerline of the lower shock pin hole? As long as the same springs are going back in I think that would work.

Just make sure that you measure the same side of the CL of the pin hole as it is not parallel to the spring perch collar!

You'll note the question mark in my sorta-answer. I don't think that going from Boge to whatever you're putting in (did the heavens part and drop a pair of Bilsteins in your lap?) makes any difference.

The Bilstein being high pressure gas over oil has some spring to it.....which is why they are shipped strapped in compression.

I think that you have to measure from the lower spring perch to the lower shock bolt center,
if you do this then you will be measuring the actual amount of preload being applied to the spring.

Note the collars should be within one turn of each other on your new assembly side to side.

NOTE measuring from the top will tell you nothing about the preload of the spring.
thats all your really concerned with anyway is the preload,
as previously noted the lower shock mounts are not the same so measure from the same side from the old to the new.

Make sure to add some grease to the anti seize paste your putting on the threads and the lower adjustment collar ,
where is mates with the lower spring perch, this will make it possible to adjust the shocks once they are assembled

I wasnt sure..so I measured where the bottom of the threaded collar sits to the pin on the Boge's and the Koni's..same.

So I just measured threads on the adjusters...and I wanted to go up a shade, so added 1/4" to both, with a turn more on the drivers (fat) side.

you should be measuring from the bottom of the spring perch,
the collars may not be the same thickness
