Default PKLAMP INSTALLATION

can anyone breakdown the installation of a PKCLAMP in an 1985 928S, US, AUTO into 10-15 ish SIMPLE steps.

I have read the installation instructions, but I am a bit confused about flexplate tension release and endplay measurement, and was hoping someone could break it all down into one simple post.

and to be honest, I am not really very conserned about the measurements, I just want to get it in for piece of mind, and if every 6 months I have to open her up, loosen the clamp, push back the flywheel and retighten, I am ok with that.

also how do you rotate the engine with a wrench to move flexplate or torque convertor?

thanks,

Flex plate release: undo 1 bolt (8mm hex iirc) that holds the collar in place. If you put a straight edge on the flex plate prior to release and observe any bowing it should rebound to 'flat' on release. retorque aforementioned bolt some add blue loctite.

Endplay: is the crankshaft free play when bolted in the engine. After the above release leverage the flex plate forward (large screw driver) then with a dial guage suitable clamped with a magnetic stand zero guage, lever flex plate to rear and read guage.....this is the end play......the larger the worse, theres a spec which I dont recall.

for more detailed description Bill Ball published the end play measurement......good luck.

Use the 27 mm bolt on the front of the engine to turn the engine to the right position. CCW.

Er.. you turn it ClockWise. CCW may cause the belt to jump teeth and all kinds of hurt.

Or use a large flathead screwdriver and turn the flywheel 5 teeth at a time by prying against the upper bell housing. It goes faster than it sounds.
