The Car You Should Of Never Sold Before or After Your 928

NIce cars! Especially the 340 Duster. Had several Roadrunners (71, 72) both with
340s back in the late 80s. The 340 small block is one potent high-winding engine. One of the best small blocks of the era in my opinion.
Here's what I got rid of to get the 928, and put money in my pocket to boot! 350 TBI, Turbo 400 Auto, all the trimmings... Nice rig just not my thing, one of my "flings". Note: the 928 is no fling. Ask my wife.

Here is one I REALLY should not have. 1954 Dodge, 1/2 ton Job Rated. Mildly built 360, 4bbl, flowmaster exhaust. Dana 60 rear end. What a truck. Not many of them around any more in this shape. Plenty of Chevys and Fords. This Hurt.

Not mine but a family car - a '53(?) 15-6 Citroen Traction Avant limo.
And another family car, a '70 Citroen DS21 Chapron Cabriolet.
Mine were a 1960 356B Roadster, a rustbucket,
a 1959 356A Convertible D, a California car with a VW engine when I got it, the PO having blown up its roller crank S90 with his lug the engine driving style
and a '65 356C Cab, also a rustbucket.

No pix, but two cars I'd like to have "back".
First one was a '65 Pontiac GTO, metallic green with white interior. In retrospect, it was not a great driving car, accelerated Very Well (for that era, but slower than either of my 928's), but turned and stopped poorly. Whenever I took it to the dealer for some service, there were always 3-4 GTO's there with front end damage!!! Just liked the looks, and the current values!
Second was a '73 BMW 3.0 CS coupe 4 spd manual. Nachtblau with tan pigskin upholstery, and I put triple Weber 40 DCOE carbs and a BMW factory modified cam in it. Went well, turned great, stopped great, and was a very comfortable car on most any road. Front fender areas were starting to to rust by '80 when I sold it!!

'95 Lexus SC300. Nothing special in the performance department, in fact the paint on the front bumper cover was bad too. Traded it in for a winter driver, but it was the first car I owned that I actually enjoyed driving. It had a 5 spd manual and an inline six that made 225bhp. I recently saw it on craigslist for sale by some highschool kid that bought it, promptly beat the **** out of it and covered it in stickers.

'89 Honda Civic Hatchback. Best all around transportation appliance ever made. Modern EFI, low smog, good A/C (key for living in Texas at the time), 30+ mpg in mixed use driving, hauled my bands' PA and my windsurfers around, bulletproof, cheap to maintain and insure. Here's the pic from the day I sold it in 2000 with 90K miles on it. Bought new for $7900, sold for $2800, 11 years of daily driving.

1994 968 ... wife said I couldn't have two Porsches, why did I listen to such nonsense?
Did absolutely nothing below 3,000 rpm and the manual transmission was torture in rush hour traffic, but it was my first Porsche.

Mine was a 1985 Porsche 924, that I bought new in Germany while stationed in the Air Force. Went to the factory and got a list of cars that the executives used for a year, and took it back to the credit union and asked what they would loan me, and was shocked. They would loan me $15,000 and the most expensive one they had was $10,000, so I bought it without knowing what color it was (documentation was all in German), ended up getting a pearl white 924, that was amazing and drove great on the autobahn.

Not a car. But a 1977 Harley Davidson XLCR 1000 stroked out to 107ci, I think. I built for me by a good ol' boy George, a engine builder in Birmingham, AL that built drag HDs for a living. The bike ran on racing fuel and was only electric start and George managed to re-gear it so it could start the bike. That bike was the most amazing motorcycle or car I ever owned bar none. That bike was like riding a guided missile. Pure thrust! Sold it to put a down payment on our first house. Missed but not forgotten.
