Your Next Car After the 928?

LOL! Yea, I guess I am, but only for the old school stuff before they started ricing them out. I like the last of the Supra's, 300ZX's and even the first of the NSX's (not the last with the ugly head lights)! When I got my 928 the only other car I was considering at the time was the 300ZX. Glad I went 928, but I'd still like to have a Supra anyway. Among others...like the previously mentioned Maser!

Randy,
Assuming you are middle aged to knackered like me what make's you think you will outlast the GTS?
Unless and until you plan on hitting 500k miles on the clock just keep it well lubricated and hammer the crap out of it as and when you can to keep it in top nick.
There are newer cars and there are more high tech cars now available but in terms of advancement for their vintage- doubt it.
The Panamera for sure is one fine driving machine and the turbo variant is truly amazing but it is one ugly motor car- can you handle going from the best looking machine ever built to one of the ugliest?
Regards
Fred

My opinion... If you are tired of something and you just want something new.... admit it, and how long does that felling last?
We are currently living in the world of a throw away society. Can you imagine what a 15 yr old Pan am will be like? Impossible to restore or even keep running as you will be held hostage by your local Porsche dealer. I doubt very much if your local Porsche repair shop or doing any work on it yourself will be able to solve any ills.
All modern cars are really not meant to be repaired, just replaced. Yes a 928 may not get 30 mph but if you consider "green" and you keep a car in good running condition for 30 years, it becomes a bit more green than taking it to the crusher and replacing it with something new. I don't think a 15 year old Prius is going to make good landfill as the carbon foot print is high already, and I don't believe it was designed to last more than 10 or so years.

The '90s Supra, 300ZX, and RX7s are all cool and are cars I've considered buying, but I don't consider them to be an upgrade or even a substitute for a 928.

I'm not trying to be mean to anyone, but if you look at the avatar pictures in this thread, you can see more "ricing" and off balance looking 928s than I have seen Supras.
My first car was a 928 (84) when I was 18 years old. I hated the Supra than, but after everything that could stop working in my 928 stopped working I sold the car. Supra came up and I bought it. Since then I never looked back. For the last 10 years my father and my brother ended up buying Porsches just to find out what I knew all along.
MKIV is a big upgrade to a 928 (even the GTS). Please list the things you know are better on the 928.
And by a Supra I mean a Twin Turbo (with factory wing) unmodified car except for a cool exhaust and lowered suspension. No Rice.

I may not always have a 928 Randy, but I will probably die with my 911.
If I get really doddery, I will revert back to a Miata. I have seven spaces in my garage.

10 years ago. The 84 928 would have been 17 years old and the supra would have been 3 to 8 years old. Most likely you bought the 928 because it was cheap and not maintained well. 84 being one of the least desirable years you are comparing one if the worst 928s to the very best supras that is 12 years newer.
I had three supras. All mk 3 s. I had more problems with those cars than any other I have owned. Especially the turbo 90. I know the mk 4 s are much better cars but a gts is alao a hell of a lot brtter than a 84 928. Have you owned a gts? Kinda hard to make valid point comparing apples to oranges .
For the record I like the twin turbo supras as well s

The Cayman was what got me back in a Porsche frame of mind... Before I recalled my first introduction was a 928...
Maybe one day the Cayman RS will be in my price range...
