Daily Driver in this context, I think.
I would lose my license in a very short time either here.

Those things do not need to cost a fortune. As I did all the work myself, I only had to spend money for the required spare parts which was clearly under $ 1000. Volvo spare parts made in low cost countries do not cost much. I expect the car to be on the road for another thirty years. I also did a small porting job to the cylinder head. The Volvo engine reminds me quite a bit of a the 944 engine.

"Your next car after the 928" ???
Took me a long time to figure that one out but I think, it will be a Mercury Grand Marquis or Ford Crown Vic, 2005 ----->
May have something to do with my age or the dreadful state of roads where I live, or both !!!
Test drove friend's Marquis last week, loved it.

German Highways ? if you know exactly were i suppose ....
I drove my 928 from Landsharks ( Hamburg ) home , must have been 300 ? km German Highway. Rest of the route was Netherlands/ Belgium.
Got 3 German speeding tickets.

indeed Daily Driver.....

can imagine that too in France.... were is the time we drove to the South of France on the route soleil.... at 160 km/h average. Long gone.
Latest years , as we drove to our boat in Gogolin 4/5 times a year , at 135/140 km/h not one car passed us......not one.

I was once hold at a "peage" for speeding ... all silly paperwork just to hold me there for half a hour... to see again a lot of trucks i already passed long ago

Jan, pity you couldn't come to Camp 928 last June - you could have tried out the '96 Caprice Classic in Impala SS trim I took in trade on a car. Just the sort of boat you're looking for. Alas, I no longer have it.

I know that for sure there will NEVER be a Crown Vic, Caprice Classic or Merc Gran Marquis in my quiver of hydrocarbon burning or EV vehicles ;-)

Good humor for those that have the wider "Obscurium" taste in their lexicon of behaviors...

Very mad that I didn't pull the trigger on a three pedal Ferrari 456 at the start of the pandemic that sat for quite a while at $50k. Thinking an AMG GT might be in my future at some point.

I know, I took a note of it when you posted the first pics and your "reasoning" behind it ;-)

I think a "big boat" is in my future !!!

And if I told you how many Porsche parts and tools my Mercury Marquis (last model year produced) has hauled so my GTs would run, you might have a different opinion. :-)))

I think the Mercury Marquis is a find daily driver. Go for it 928nut! :-))) Better than my SAAB convertible probably, but not better than my 86' 900 SPG.

Fun discussion, I had this giant 72 Plymouth Fury with a trunk larger than my college dorm room... Hauled anything! It reminded me of a toilet seat - "Ya don't respect it, but you use it" Both that Caprice and and the Merc are far nicer than my Fury was!

I also had a rusty, rusty, rusty Ford Pinto station wagon, so I know about driving a car that works, but nobody respects!

Well, I don't do much "daily driving" any longer, but what I want now, is something obscenely comfortable, reliable, virtually silent, and able to absorb most of the bumps and pot holes in our roads. (oh, almost forgot, very affordable) Nothing covers all these "wants" like a Marquis or Crown Vic. I can buy a nice one with reasonable mileage for $5 to $10K Canadian pesos. The friend of mine I mentioned, drove his old Vic for approx. 20 yr.s, summer and winter, without any serious failures. He was so impressed he bought a 2010 or 2011 Grand Marquis, to replace the old Vic, which he sold to some kid for a few hundred dollars - still running. BTW, he is well off and could buy virtually any new car out there, if he wanted to. Amen

A very nice shiny SAAB. I know a young guy who loves 928 and SAAB. He has both a 928, but dreams of a Strosek, as well as a SAAB Talladega.
