Aston Martin db9 - A bit OT

DB7's yes, but you won't find a DB9 or Vanquish for anything close to sub $30K, at least not one that you would want to own.

I did look at several forum threads where people asked about maintenance costs. Sounds like your basic "service", probably an oil change and looking everything over, is about $1,100 at the dealer.
I saw an A-M branded oil filter on EBay with a $75 BIN and a change takes 11 qts of oil with a new filter. At least it's easy to do, just take off the undertray, undo the drain plug, etc. The filter can actually be reached from above. So not sure how the dealer gets from there to $1,100 ... maybe they wash and wax it ?
Brakes are just good old Brembos like our cars, so nothing out of the ordinary there.
I doubt the electronics are much more complicated than a 928 even with newer/additional functionality. But there is likely no Roger Tyson out there to help with advice and reasonably-priced parts.
Repairs that require taking out the engine/drivetrain would obviously be the killers in labor $.

Interesting thread. Since I own both, i can tell you that I would not let go of either the 928 or the DB9.
The 928 is a classic on its own and people -specially in the know- do appreciate it. I like it and will drive it for as long as it goes, and it is an amazingly comfortable daily driver. Nothing would really compare to a good 928S4.
The DB9 is probably one of the best looking modern cars you can buy. It drives great. It looks great. It sounds like a symphony. When penned, it was definitely a 928 successor (just put them next to each other and you will get the picture. Still, make no mistake... this is an exotic car with exotic costs. Yearly oil change + inspection is a $1,500 exercise. Parts have to be ordered and many times items are on wait so the car would sit for a month until a part is received (specially trim). Most of my dealer visits are a $3K+ exercise. Rear seats are for children less than 3 years old or people shorter than 5' and have no legs potentially (and i am only talking about the seat behind the passenger; the seat behind the driver is useless. Electronics are interesting; don't mess with them. Great car, i love it... but a 928 replacement it is definitely not!
The Mas... well based on experience, i am not a fan... but taste is something personal.
just my 5c.

Hey James, you're slipping ... no model draped over that Maserati?
Khalloudy, has your db9 been reliable? Any known weak spots on a db9? Is the interior prone to showing wear like Randy said?
OK, ok, here's another one of the blue car ... tomorrow's my birthday, I'll bet my wife bought it for my present ... not!

Tom, that was a World Class Driving event... Would have LOVED to have had a little HOTTIE riding shotgun next to me for that event! It was a complete BLAST!!!!

Check out this link...
From autoweek... You might be able to get a 929 (successor to the 928) if you wait long enough...

Drifting
I have seen a lot of them, was sitting in a Rapide 2 weeks ago also looking at the Virage, DB9, V8V ....... , they are nice. The rapide is the best looking and highest quality sedan on the market. The best production Aston is the V12V.
But it still does not have the presence of a mint Old Bumper '85 928. It just doesn't. Especially at night, I will take my 928 with the frog eyes up over it. Mine sounds better/as good. The Aston interiors, better than most new cars, still does not match an all leather 928 interior for comfort and ergonomics.

Yeah, James we have the same taste in exotic automobiles, i thought that Maserati white convertible was a beautiful car, if I wanted a stick shift though I would go with the DB9, but not many around. For all out power the Aston Vanquish-S is hard to beat at 520HP, it has a top speed of 203MPH, but I hear the Vanquish F1 shift mechanism isn't as good as the Maserat GTi, DB9, or Ferrari 575M. In a stick i would also consider also a Ferrari 550 with 485HP. But all these cars go for $65,000 to $100K, used, and you better be ready for big buck repairs. I still think the 928 is no less a car than any of these & a super bargain at that, just imagine how many 928's you could buy for the price of one of these cars! The Maserati Gran Sports & variants are a good buy & still 390HP, $20K-35K reasonable for a Maserati. Bill

Gary, Congratulations on the Maserati, looks beautiful, wish I could buy one too! These cars are excellent buys considering what they cost new(Gran Sports & Variants), there are a few around town here.Bill

Thanks! You can buy one for the price of a decent GTS. IMHO, they share a lot of similarities with the 928. Same size, under appreciated,... Unfortunately, the aftermarket support is lacking.
