Default One reason my 928 has been sitting for a while

Just finishing putting my Xr back together with all the Cosworth RS 500 parts. I also have a monster interooler and a real Cosworth hot side of the Turbo to install at a later time.

A Merkur XR4Ti... I remember those! The ones we got here SUCKED, but yours looks friggin' awesome! I always thought they were pretty cool and apparently the Cosworth's were THE BOMB!

I find the overlap between 928 and Merkur guys oddly heartwarming.

And not all that surprising. Aficionados of abandoned, red-headed stepchildren unite!!

Very cool, and definitely unique. I haven't seen one of these in years, and much longer for one in this good of condition.

Wow what a nice restored example. Yes I agree that car was awesome but very unloved in North America for some reason. Just like the 928...

Looks good!

Have you seen the price for genuine unmolested RS500's?

One of my best friends had a geniune RS500 built by Reyland Motorsport. Circa 750Bhp at 8000rpm, 6-speed hewland box, Alcon 6 and 4 pots, full Ford Motorsport cage, etc. etc... It was absolutely insane. Easily the most mental car that I have ever driven...

Did you get your parts from Russ at Rapido Group. He got me all my parts to make my XR4Ti into a Sierra.
I had alcohol injection instead of an intercooler and dialed the boost up from 7 (automatic tranny sorry) to 12. Wait til your wastegate goes bad and you overboost and the super loud buzzer goes off and scares the crap out of you. Then the computer steps in and stops the fun. Thought I blew my engine first time that happened.

When those XR4ti's came out, I wanted one real bad.

That thing looks fantastic.

Yes I have bought from Russ a few times, he is a great guy. I drove an 89 when it was new, back then a Mustang GT was about $12K and the Xr was $23K. I bought an 85 in 89 and had it for a long time then sold it and got into Porsche's. I must add buying performance stuff for these cars is like penny's on the dollar when compared to the 928 These car's performance wise have come along ways I have a monster RS 500 IC for it waiting to be installed and right now have a 951 style IC. Were running 20 lbs of boost and around town it's total blast to drive. Like the 928 you just don't see these cars. Mine did not have any rust and I just got it back from getting painted and having all the RS 500 parts installed and working on installing the interior now. It is a small community but allot of loyal guys and a few vendors that have most everything. Allot of it used but I can still get it. I'll post some more pictures after the weekend.

Took a few more quick shots of it this evening. Almost finished with putting the interior back in.
