Default Full leather, Sport Seats, 89GT on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=244919590890

Did I miss the discussion on this car?
Seems like a beauty. "The only full leather 89GT in the US"... according to a question posed during the auction. Low(er) miles, nice looker....missing the CS wheels, though.

Doesn't look all leather to me..but might just be bad pics. True full leather would have leather a pillars/console/dash/rear quarters etc.. the console doesn't look leather covered.

Aside from that, I believe this is one of 16 Cdn 89 GTs.. sport seats, heated seats, no rear air etc. Look for the C36 code on the options list in the rear hatch area. I wonder if the digital dash got swapped out when it came into the States? Mine didn't (I was lucky)

Too bad the CS rims are gone...that in itself is a huge part of the 89GT.

In this market and looking at the bid history, I wonder about shill bidding?

Without knowing the car personally and based on what other low mileage GT's go for... my swag on the value (given nearly perfect condition) would be around $25k...

Without knowing the car and given some of the interesting questions that have come up about it, I would say more like $15000, especially in this market. In fact, I suspect that the only valid bid he had in the eBay listing might have been $8999.

Maybe I'm missing something. The reserve wasn't met, so any shill bidding there may have been didn't work very well. Also, it was a private auction, so I'm curious about what you find suspicious in the bidding given the bidder's names are fully hidden.

Did the auction end early?

I hate this hidden bidder thing on ebay, and the no info at all option like this listing has always makes me VERY reluctant to bid.

OTOH Murrietta isn't far from where I had dinner on Saturday.

The first question that comes to mind is why the sale was private? Perhaps that was to be able to hide the fact that the shill bidders cannot be seen as having zero or little feedback. The second thing I notice is that the bids are all very even numbers in multiples of fifty, except only one that is $8999. If you look a just about any other eBay bid history on a car such as this you will find a whole lot of odd numbers being bid and nothing like this history where they are all so "clean." In fact I don't think I have ever seen a bid history with such a clean sequence of bid amounts. Then, the fact that I don't think anyone in this market would bid 19,500 for this car strongly suggests to me that it is not a valid bid, most likely.

Of course, this is just mere speculation on my part and perhaps mere fantacy; but it makes you wonder. At least it makes me wonder; which is all that I said in the first place.

Just noticed this car's VIN is only two off from mine and right next to my car in the Registry listings.
FYI: There are some cools photos of the original red shifter and boot at the Registry.
