I can point you to an 86 (not 86.5) for $2500 here in NY. An 86.5 that is on Ebay right now with a 5 speed with LSD is listed for $5400 in NY. I know it can be had for $3000 and will need TB/WP/MM.

If you want a project find one that is running and is what you want. Don't just buy one because it sounds good or the pictures look good (ask me how I know...)

GL!

That sounds like your wife or significant other talking. I think I could hear her in the back ground on the videos. "Honey, you already have a nice 928, what do you want with another one?"

I think you dodged a big bullet on this 85 or 86 928. What you need to start looking for is a nice project S4! That crappy induction on the 85 and 86 928s just turns me off, for some reason.

Upgrade your expectations and start looking for a nice project.

S4 sounds nice but out of my budget. However always have my radar on looking for that one. S4 sounds nice but the odds are slim that I could find that one diamond in the rough.

At the car wash getting that old tired but true 82 928 a nice detail and wash. Too hot in San Antonio and besides they got that dam water restriction going ... Can't wash your ride int the drive way....

pfff, that car was in a real sorry state. I reminds me of one of the 928's I went looking for, before buying my current 86.5

I really wonder how people can let it go so bad, I mean, how on earth do you manage to get a bunch of grass or whatever that was into the intake?!@

The car in your video was ready for dismantling, be glad you did not buy it.

Some journalist of a local newspaper once wrote: "God gave you two feet to walk away from a bad deal". Glad you made good use of yours.

The journalist and his paper weren't so lucky - the local dealers boycotted them for months.

I think your better half might be right if $1500 is your total buget. Stick with the 82 until you have a better budget, more like $6000 to $10,000 to buy the right car and service/refresh it out like it will always need to be.

Good advice Jerry. By the way, your spacers are still working great. Thanks again.

not necessarily, you just have to be REALLY lucky...
I got a call once for an 86 5 spd w/ snapped tb for less than that.. I took it because the tranny was worth that much...
turns out the belt split down the center and was still holding on... I put about $2k into it to make it road worthy and sold it to a Rennlist member for a decent price..

there is an alternative....
put that money into making your 82 better... bigger brakes, s4 suspension,
for a bit more you could throw one of Carl's sc kits on it and have more hp than an s4...

I have no opinon about this opprotunity.

You can't polish a turd, but it sounds like you want to try anyway.

You still put 3500 into it to make road worthy. It sounds like his total budget is 1500.

My vote is for him to Abe his money and build it up until he has enough to get a decent 32 valve which is what I sounds like he really wants.

Wow video really shows the condition, there isn't a part of that car that isn't f'ed up. Good parts car candidate with H4's and S3 motor. Such a shame to see one looking like this. Too bad 928 Intl and Benton are so far away.
