Default Flowmaster HP2 Shorty's

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of running a couple Flowmaster HP2 Shorty's (12") in lieu of the single can, 2 in 2 out, mid resonator to quiet down my RMB. Seems like they would be an easy fit, given the small size of the resonator on my 86. Flowmaster also claims low heat. I may have to do a balance pipe also since it would be true dual exhaust now with this set up. Anybody have any experience with these?

Thanks, Dennis

Flowmasters are loud and a bit raspy. Might be what you're after, however for my taste they are a bit too much. If you do it however, I hear resonating exhaust tips help cut down on the 'raspy' ness..

Thanks D,

I'm trying to cut down some of the noise (especially in the cabin) and raspiness with my current set up. These were rated "Moderate noise" so my thinking was they might work. The recording of the sound (on a vintage Camaro mind you) was pretty nice.

LOL.. Ya Noise is a relative thing. I like magnaflow mufflers myself. A bit more mellow. But Flowmasters sound very 'racy' to me.

What ever you do, please make some nice recordings so we can hear

I just got rid of the flowmasters on my mustang, and replaced them with magnaflos - sounds way better without that horrible resonating at 2000 to 2500 rpms. I have magnaflows and no cats on Blumaxx, and it is without question the best sounding 928 I have ever heard (and I've heard quite a few over the years too). It sounds like a full bore on racer. The 16v have a distinctive sound that the 32v's don't have.

Adding a resonator reduces that drone at 2000. BTDT

Screw Magnaflows. I went through 2 on a 944 because the perforated tube's welds inside separated from the case. Blowing out a muffler on a 944 is a quality control issue.
