Might be worth spending a couple hundred bucks to experiment with a big, hard to cover, section of the car. Like - either bumper....see how badly you do with it, and if its worth trying the whole car. Can't really hurt anything......

Best option might be to practice on a hood, fender, bumper cover from a junk car...any kind of car. Same thing I tell people who want to do body work/ painting for the first time. Start out on something that has no value to you or anyone else.....

Not a Porsche but thought I would share my experience. Wrapped my brothers mustang hood and roof last night. First half of hood took an hour, second half took 20 minutes and then the roof took like half an hour. It literally came out perfect and we didn't waste any wrap. We also had the heat gun ready but didn't need to use it.

only issue i have with the wraps, is that if you change color, whenever you open the hood/doors it will be blaringly obvious what you did... BUT i would dtill like to see it done. Also i do like that matt black.. looks stealth.

i wonder if someone would come up with a micro dimple wrap that would reduce air resistance like thode on a golf ball.... then we would have 200 mph rockets....lol

Yeah thats going to be an issue. When the hood we did was black so you can tell underneath but if the car was white It wouldn't look as good. But this material is great to work with I think if I use an extra large piece I could do the rear quarter panel and then include the doorjamb with that so it doesn't look two tone.

I can hardly wait to start wrapping my cars. Who's wrap did you use? I see several brands, just looking on ebay.

Nice work. If that is the result of your first attempt, then very impressive.

I used 3m wrap, I did buy on ebay but am still looking for a reliable place to buy. I used the BIN on ebay and it took like three weeks to get it. .

I was looking at the surviving BMW "M5" from the Fast Furious Movie bought it and drove it 20 miles. The wrap on the hood roof etc. looked pretty good after a few years ! A bit loud with straight pipes nice 6 speed !

Check with Paul Champagne, he is 3M dealer and will make sure you get the right stuff...at a fair price. AND, can probably give you some tips..or from the looks of the job you did on the Stang....you can give him some?? :-) As mentioned, he is wrapping his 928 in 3M "Carbon Fiber" currently.

I only stock a few different styles, but I can get any of the hundreds of designs.
I know I can equal the eBay prices. I might even be able to beat it by a small margin. The minimum size would be 5 sq. ft.

I know Di-Noc works well on the S4 wing, but I have no clue about the rubber S spoiler. If there ever was a silicone based protectant applied to it, I doubt anything would stick.
I could send you a small sample if you want to try it.
Before I started my project, I drove around for a month with a patch of Di-Noc on my PT Cruiser

Paul
Teaser pic of his progress a while back, can't wait to see the finished product...look close at the bumper cover beading.... a true artist!
