Default 928 euro

Do ya think she'd trade it for my good running 1988 924s?

No kidding. Dang. Glad its not up here in the SEA area.

And if you can register and plate it all the better, but if not, you still have a fine track car candidate at that price.

Ed,
I just read an old 1990 Panorama magazine that had an article in it on adding S spoilers to an OB non-S 928. It included instructions on cutting out the slots in the bumper cover to add the brake ducts.

Looks like the OT Euro has no sunroof or rub strips.

They even did the rear spoiler side window trim correctly... replaced the rubber seal so it would fit the side parts of the rear spoiler correctly. And it looks like they took stock rear side marker lights and fit them to the rear....(too bad)..but at least they look better than the typical side maker add-ons.

My guess is that one of the PO's probably put a fair bit of money into the updating of this 928..

Tom,
Agreed. Hard to say what took it out after 1993, but it could have easily been that a new car took over the owner's attention.

Those rear markers don't look flush to me, like the OE ones. They looks like a common add-on lamp that the importers used.
Same ones found one my early car, same ones found on James Morrison's '85 Euro.

I would like to see a little more evidence this car went thru legal importation channels.

At luinch today, I'm going to check with USDOT for a bond release.

USDOT has a legal record of a bond release, 4-14-86.
This car is legal to be in the US.

I was add these two details to my first post.

I think they used the stock rear side marker but instead of creating that recessed edge for the maker to recess into..they probably just cut the hole and fit the marker in..leaving a bit of a lip. We had looked at this when Adam and I were thinking of importing the 928 and it seemed like a better solution than just bolting on some Ford marker. At least they did it to the rear only (simple to weld in a steel blank)...the aluminum fender up front would require much more work to fill a hole...

All early front covers are the same you simply cut out for the ducts. The replacement vin # is troublesome. You have to wonder WHY ?? And it would be nearly impossible to register a grey market car in California..... This car is an example of WHY ...it was not properly Federalized the lab just took the money submitted fake paperwork photos and got it released..... as did so many. Also would have thought that the storage facility would have done a lein sale since they were "selling" a car. That would have created a proper paper trail for getting a title. Even as a cheap track car it is nice to have it titled so you can street drive it or when you get stopped by the police PROVE that you own the car on the trailer.....because they often ask !

How much do you think it would cost to ship to Texas? Have a 78 I'm in the process of restore and could use a lot of parts from this.

As a not running car it is extra, more trouble to load and unload ...L A to Lubbock, TX is around $700-$800 Monterey is another 300 miles or so....then Lubbock to Georgetown...so figure $1,000 shipping. James had his latest Euro trucked to Austin from L A

So what is the process to get enough paperwork from California to register this in another state?

Does California force payment of back taxes, fees, etc, to allow another state to clear the title?

Refitting with cat, canister, steel door beams, lights, etc, is simple on these at this point in the life of a car, and with availability of junkers for donor parts.

I get all the caveats of the past.
What is the process to clear the title now?
Or is it simply unobtainable?

I don't think so....

But if you want it just for parts, why would you need to get eyes on it?
