Default FS: "Pound Puppy" '78 Euro 5 speed, Monterey CA

Alright folks, lookin' for someone lookin' to save an OB.

'78 Euro, 5 speed, black with black leather (no pasha), no-sunroof, no-rubstrip, non-runner

Serial #2580
(VIN#9288102580)

Car was legally imported in the US, 4-14-86 (Bond release paperwork available from NHTSA for nominal fee)

160,729 Kilometers (100K miles)

No title, but seller has the sales receipt from the storage unit from which she bought the car a couple months back. May be able to apply for title with this as a BOS, along with seller BOS. YMMV.

Been out of commision since '93. No vehicle history.

This little pound puppy may be diamond in the rough!

$850

Seller is a car gal, and would really like to keep this early Euro together and not relegated to be dismantled.

Call Linda @ 831-601-7919 or email DarlindaBall@comcast.net

No affiliation, just want to see this car get in the hands on of enthusiast with some vision.

I would start with registration issues, no Calif smog history for that plate, 2FUL604, and I can't read the VIN, but its a Euro, so might not be possible to register in Calif. No point in getting much deeper if it can't be registered.

It had a CA plate so it WAS registered in CA...however its records are long gone.......DMV keeps records for 7 years them dumps them..... I think the early Euros can be smogged.....just need to add Cat's...

Buzzkill.

Car appears to have been federalized which means the NHSTA (US DOT) will have record of that. If the car was modified to meet EPA req's then that history is traceable as well.
RE registering Euros in Calif., not familiar with that. Although my Number Six was registered and driven in Calif. Had the EPA work done to it there as well.

Euro fenders, headlights, speedo, turn markers, I am not seeing anything that is normally changed when federalized. I don't know what the Calif replacement ID is, but its not a BAR sticker from passing a referee emissions station test.

Sorry if its a buzz kill, but here in Calif several times a year I run across a 928 that isn't practical to register in Calif. Doesn't mean the cars are lost causes, just not practical in Calif.

Damn... I was in LA 2 weeks ago. This would make a good budget track car.

Jim - how does a 78 have the spoilers (anyone can add them easy enough) but the brake ducts in the front cover too? I thought those mods occured a couple of years later in Euro cars?

All too common for an owner to want the next best thing to come out, in this case the 'S' model.

For instance, this car below is '77 serial# 0020.

Could you imagine the suprise when he sees the VIN# for the first time?

Re brake ducts, they just cut the non-S spoiler...

Jim my question is did they cut the front bumper cover too, and add the brake ducts there? I have seen where people add the front spoiler and it looks odd because there are no ducts, until later years. This one is a first year car with ducts, which I haven't seen before.
