I didn't know about this. Is it for changing the angle of attack or just cleaning the rear window? Kinda cool. BTW, Why did they discontinue the oil squirters? Curious.

As grufallo mentions, he's going to have to get down and dirty to find out if she's a squirter, this after putting up a struggle before folding. I think Porsche figured the squirters and folding wings were just teases for the new owners so they deleted them entirely mid model year.

For RoW S4's, it appears they got the hinged rear wing at least until May '87 (RoW VIN #1898 had one from factory, probably higher too).
Gruffalo's car won't be a squirter with a VIN that high - his engine number will be well beyond the cutoff point.

The workshop manual is pretty clear on the last manual engine number for '87 to get squirters - it was likely around late-Dec 87 (my red 87 VIN with ROW #1022 is only two engine numbers before the last manual squirter block).

Yep - the factory WSM only states highest engine number for manual S4 engines (i.e. M28.41). Auto highest is unknown, although yours is the current highest-known I believe?
Also US and RoW VIN sequences aren't related - there's a RoW #1152 too![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Here's the TSB from 1987 that lists the engine number:

gruffalo, more pics of the car please. I am also specifically in need of pics of the headliner without the sunroof as I performed a sunroof delete on my project car and I need to better understand how it gets assembled. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Relative to lifting the rear hatch by the wing. I strongly recommend NOT to do this. If you ever remove the wing and see how thin and generally corroded the studs are that mount to the hatch you will see why.
Your car if it were in poor condition would be a perfect track car candidate. The sunroof delete provides much needed headroom for helmets.

Regarding track car: FORGET IT!

The interior is special order, code 98, which means it is non-standard, but using the factory colors. Code 99 is for custom colors, I've been told.
Everything is leather, the headliner, sun flaps, window frames, pillars, dash, everything. Maybe they all had that? I dont know.
I really like the fact that it is an 87, meaning no cruise, no airbag, no electronic dash. No rear ac either. This car is exactly to my taste, I cant believe my luck finding this one.

A cool thing about the folding wing is that you can let it rest unlocked, giving it a steeper angle of attack. And when you hit 100km/h it locks with a loud BANG! Pretty much shows that it works, the down force locks it. cool.
