Dude,
What you need to do is keep the black one and let me have the Kracken I love that color. I almost made an offer on that car when I saw it but it would have caused a divorce. LOL When are we going to see some more Pics???

I'll reply for Sterling, hopefully he doesn't mind.
Yeah it's chopped, - photochopped actually.

He's simply not interested. My other local shop, SSI in Towson... those dudes are enthusiasts and a treat to be around. They race 944 turbos (not this season, unfortunately; I believe they're reworking their roll cage or something), but more importantly, they're really into Porsches. I think that's critical when seeking out a mechanic you can trust with classic car repair. Fortunately my brother and I do everything together at his shop; he's a professional, and I'm a professional learner. I go to SSI for alignments, dyno testing, etc, but if I had to I would trust them to do major work on my 928. Roger will never touch one of my cars again.
I can understand that someone who works on cars day in day out may have started out as an enthusiast - a passionate advocate for their chosen profession - but has had a fading energy.

Honestly - if the passion fades, you have to get out. I do this stuff day in day out and I only gain more passion. A guy like Todd, or Greg Brown or.... Well, I am going to be cautious and not mention many others, have TRUE passion - they love the work from what I can see.

As in any profession, you have to get out of it when you find yourself "Phoning it in"

Here's what the 'frame' should look like (EG. my '86.5 auto).

All others are parts cars.

Some expert would probably object to drilling holes in the "frame" or patches being added....

Ahem. That is a factory 'relief' for the transition to the body.

Ugh. That patch is frame damage. Even if you somehow determined that to be a good idea for lift points, the drilling of screw holes is hideous.
If you must attatch a channel over that feature, body epoxy would be a quick fix. Of course welding is ideal but that would take some skill and prep work.

Personally I think the mechanic did the right thing noting the damage, but his wording leaves a bit to be desired.
