Default Pod has lost tach, speedo, computer and all instruments except electrical system volt

Had my carpets replaced in my 1993 GTS and now don't have power to the pod - no tach, speedo, oil pressure, computer. I also lost the interior lights but have radio rear lid switch.. It seems like a ground must have become dislodged in the tear out or install. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot?

By the way the new (July 2011) Hemmings has a cover story on the 928!

All the best!

Thanks for the fast reply! the car is at the upholstery shop so I have to relay the instructions remotely as I am on a trip away from home.

Tell the carpet fitters to replace the fuse they burnt out by shorting the door lamp wires to ground. That will also bring back up the cluster gages. The backside of the passenger footwell cover provides a listing of the fuse locations by function.

Replace fuse number 25 (7.5 amp) and ask the guys to be careful about shorting the interior lights when doing the interior work. :-)

Yeah, it's a classic fuse #25. Anyone been messing with the dome light? They short out to the roof.

The dome light did that for my car . someone might have monkeyed with it trying to turn it off with all the doors open .

Hi All:
It looks like something other than the fuses (#25 or #10) ...most likely the ground(s)......I hope! I will check tomorrow and will post results.

Thanks you all for your suggestions!

Default Pod now powered up!

Hi All:
It was fuses 10 and 25 after all despite installer's insistence that the problem was elsewhere. The carpet guy is very good at installing upholstery but not very good at fixing things electrical. I now have a functioning pod, interior lights and an awesome new interior!

Thanks to all for your help!!

Yeah, but what popped the fuses in the first place? Do you know if they may have turned the dome light on and off?

tell the carpet shop to plug back in the 2 connectors under the dead pedal they are for the info management system, one is yellow and one is black
if they are removed then the dash will be silent except for the voltage light and the fuel and oil pressure gauges will work but nothing else
