Default Tec-GT install issues, IT RUNS!! Thread updated

Im installing the Tec-GT ECM

The instructions tell me to connect

The light green (fuel pump relay ground) according to the Tec CD

Carls manual say
Fuel pump and engine power supply wire

a. the light green gets spliced with a diode and connected to the (brown/red W15)
and also gets connected to the (Brown/white W21)

The problem is the diode did not get shipped with it and when I look at the wiring diag. something is not making sense.

I am trying to work around not having the diode

Any Ideas

Both W15 and W21 go to relay terminals #85, I wonder why they say install a diode on relay XX and not on XXV

I am trying to figure out why the LH relay xxv is even used except maybe for the shift valve.

Could the diode be required to eliminate the possibility of a spike back to the ECM when switched off.

DEPENDING on the diode, diodes can serve two main purposes.

1: Flow of current can only go one way. So yes, it could stop a reverse voltage spike.
2: A diode can be used to limit the voltage. Example would be 14 volt source, but only 8 volts are needed.

These examples are generic. I have no idea what the diode you need is supposed to do.

I suggest that you email or call Carl to find out what it does.

You need to call him anyway so he can send you the missing diode.

I decided to do some live test.

The Green wire from the ECM supplies 12 volts with key on but did not turn off.
The directions were to use power from relay XX11 which was called the LH relay.
This is wrong according to my schematic, the LH is XXV, correct?

The LH relay on a 89 is the XXV relay and is type '53'

XX11 relay is for the reverse lights (data from my relay chart)

Should terminal 86 on the fuel relay be grounded?

Where dose it leave the panel so that I can ground it there?

I believe it should be grounded.

30 and 87 are jumpered to run the pump for various tests:
