I pretty much agree. The only reason I can come up with is if you add a $500K garagemahal to your home peoperty and later want to sell it you've got to find another car nut or not get your money back. These are separate properties, separately saleable. And maybe separate mortgages, if you're not paying cash and don't want to encumber your residence.

But then, I wouldn't do something like this if I had to borrow money for it. They're in the toys budget.

Some that I saw had little bedrooms tucked into a loft along with a kitchen and full bathroom. Like a big garage with a bachelor pad attached.

The typical garage is something like 30' by 100' and two stories inside. Hell. It'd almost fit my whole city-lot house in there.

Marc White owns a condo in a complex like this in Wichita. That is where I first went to check out 928's before I bought my car. I was in awe of the complex and was thinking what a great investment idea. Some units were finished out to where one could live in them, others just bare walls used for storage. All I needed was financial backing and passing all the local building codes. Everyone I talked with loved the idea, just no money. Guess I don't mingle with the right crowd. And in all fairness, the economy was already in the dumper.
Well the Wichita guy saw Kansas City had potential and is building one here now. It is being build on the Missouri side of the city, so the building codes will be more lenient but the money and the cars are on the Kansas side for the most part. I'm sure it will be a success. It just makes sense for people without garage space at home to have a place to go. These condos have a feeling of community from like minded people. Think about it, everyone on your block being a car guy/gal. I would do it if I could.

If they would add that to our local track (any of the soon to be three once COTA is finished) I'd be keeping my Race car there AT LEAST!
