Broken Crank Scraper?
Was helping a friend pull apart an '89 GT today and found this.
Only slight nicks on the 2/6 rod nuts, a few scrapes on the crank but nothing major. Each bolt is tight to the oil pan but it looks like someone had taken the oil pan down a bit to put some sort of putty to seal the pan gasket, and yanked down hard enough to bend the part. It looks like it came unattached at the middle one first due to the amount of junk on it. The piece that came free was stuck between the pan and the oil pick up. It's a wonder it didn't get in a bad spot. The pan leaked like a **** so whatever idiot did that failed.
This is the piece put back where it should go.
This is the attached side.
Sadly, this was a rennlisters car a few years ago and am finding a load of BS crap done to the car. Dude, you will be reading this, don't fvck up your new GT. You are lucky this engine didn't go boom.

I thought the oil pan scraper was only fitted to the GTS. Not a virgin engine someone was there before you 8>).
How was twin peaks?

if this was hitting a rod you might consider removing the rod cap to inspect the rod bearing it might have damage
