Default Air Flow Control Advice

Hello 16 Valvers;

Have a "no start" condition. Cleaned grounds, all new sensors, coil, L-jet, green wire, spark box. No vaccum leak, spark good, gas in tank. No new plug wires but no breaks in insulation noted. No signal to injectors. Puffs off the cold start injector, continuity in circuits. Now focusing on the AFC. Before I cut off an arm to get a replacement I wanted to get opinions as to if this is why the car will not start.

Her are the numbers:
6-9 / Tested 561ohm / Manual - 200-400ohm
6-8 / 362 / 130-260
8-9 / 202 / 70-140
6-7 / 91 / 40-300
7-8 / 291 / 100-500
27-6 / 2.4K

Does anyone recondition these AFC?

Thank In Advance for your input;

Tony D.

Have you tried jumpering the fuel pump relay's socket to see if you have fuel pressure?

That car has a different style of relay for the injection brain.

Make sure that you replace it.

Right relay, slot XVI.

I like to remove control voltage from the equation.
Jumper XVI, 30-87-87 with a three way wire (must be three-way)
Jumper Fuel Pump relay.
Try starting.

If no good results, then remove air filter and use a piece of clean heater hose to hold the AFM barn door open a bit. Try starting again.

Last thing --- you said "all grounds"
Does that include the mission critical brain & sensor ground hidden under the emissions air pump valve (at the top of the "O" in PORSCHE) on the passenger side cam cover, plus its companion ( located near the "H")?

Thanks Chris;

I did clean those grounds 1st thing, held the door open to attempt to start and jumpered XVI and the fuel pump.

Interesting. I'd also ( if you haven't ) jumper FI realy and FP relay at same time.

Short at injector (any of the 8) will also take the car down.
Did you try a noid light or else meter the wires?

Also, W or X plug ( far right of lower panel, I forget which it is for 83) --- close inspection / did you individually seat each of those wires on the panel male connectors using a small screwdriver?

Temp II and thermo time sensors are important in no start situations, but wouldn't interupt signal to injectors.

Wondering about green wire and distributor pickup. --- assuming it was a new one from 928Intl or rUs --- late batch, not a residual from the bad batch years ago
(would be nice to verify signal a the spark box for the 83, at the other end of green wire --- I think Oscope is required).

Anybody nearby that would try your Ljet in their car (realizing its apparently a replacement)?

The AFM? That meters air? The black cover is removable and you can re-track the pickup, and clean with eraser the potentiometer wires. Not sure who rebuilds.

Do you still have core Ljet and core spark box? Source of your replacements (ie, known-good / verified)?

How is back of panel? No melts?

Hope you just have a relay problem, but I'm in the process of removing all L-Jet parts from my 84 for Tec3 conversion.

All parts are in good working order.

Ignition box, L-Jetronic box, Distributor, AFM, Injectors, Fuel Rails, Harness, Cold Start Valve and associated plumbing and injector, etc., etc, etc., will be for sale.

Not trying to Hijack the thread. Rather sell to someone here that really needs the parts, before I put it all up on the Fleebay.

Again, I hope you just need a relay. Good Luck with your debug.
