I see the low fuel light working with the key on/engine off, so I know IT works, but is it possible that if im not seeing it come on when I have to add that much gas..that the sender isnt working right?

It has to get SUPER low for the light to come on....since when it lights up, essentially it is lighting up the remaining 1/4 tank or so.... The most I have EVER put in my street 88 when the warning light came on was about 19.5 gallons...
The tank holds 86 liters (22.7 US gallons), 8 (2.1 US gallons) of which are listed as "reserve". So, the "reserve" light should come on at about 2 gallons left. That's what mine seems to do.
One of the pins on the fuel level sender is responsible for the low level light. If that one signal does not get to where its going, there will be no light.
As Hilton says. And a funnel. Or a rolled up newspaper. Or an old piece of cardboard. Anything to make a funnel. It is impossible to get fuel from can to 928 petrol tank without some intermediate device. How do I know this??
And i believe its on a different circuit than the fuel sender??....meaning, your gauge may not work but the low fuel light will when it gets low enough. I dont drive to far in my car and always drive it unil the red light comes on then Im good for another 25 beyond that tops.
Flying, well, thats a little different.
