Michael glad your on the road with a nice 928.
I hope the rest of the resto works out well.

For your running issues easy things are to swap out the caps and rotors and plug wires make sure to swap out the coil wires as well,
I went with a set of wires from Worldpack about 295.00 they will fit the 86 cars though they dont come with new coil wires like the Beru kits that Roger sells.

Also consider removing the O2 sensor connection at the CE panel and take a reading from the the thick green wire ( leave it connected just insert a small wire to take the reading with)
you will be looking for .50 volts it will jump to either side of the .50V EG .75 to .35V,
if you dont get this reading,
then you need to adjust the MAF till you get these numbers, (MAF has a 3 MM screw adjuster in the top of its body) ( to make a tool for adjusting)
insert a small piece of 3 mm allen into a piece of vacuum line and super glue the allen to the tube.

if your not able to get this then MAF rebuild should be performed,

once this is done then get a new FPR and a set of Porken chips.
you may have to perform the MAFadjustment again with the new chips
You will notice a big difference in power and if you have an X pipe it will yield even more.
Be cognizant of the coil wires, that they dont rub on anything and that both coils have the ground wires attached

Thanks Mrmerlin. I plan on changing the plug/coil wires, caps and rotors as soon as I can afford to. The wires are old and hard for sure. Per your suggestion, I will also check the voltage at the green wire at the CE and report back.

Porken and FPR are on the "as soon as I can afford it list" as well.

FYI, according to the person who did the work on my car, there was high idle that was MAF adjusted away just a day before I got the car back. Also, when I was doing my intake refresh, I did notice that one side of the MAF screen was distorted. If my voltage findings and a change in wires, etc. does not lick the problem, I will invest in getting my MAF refurbished.

It is in such a sorry state, it is hard to really tell how nice it can be, but the notion of keeping it Weissgold is growing on me .

there is a idle adjust screw on the front of the intake body its a 7mm,
to do this insert a wire to jump C to B on the test port then this will disable idle compensation adjust to 700 RPM
then set the MAF voltage at the O2 sensor.
Do a search for MAF adjusting

Finally a running car in the stable! Looks awesome, Michael. Can't believe I didn't catch that you already had H4s... sorry bud.
