Well, the good news is my DMV fees will be significantly less than I thought if I wait until Tuesday to non-op it. Next up, order tb/wp parts and start switching out the bad burgundy interior for my clean black one. I also think I am going to do the pan gasket and MM's.

Besides a complete fluid change, what else should I look at in terms of maintenance?

Once I get caught up on maintenance and interior color swap, I will start thinking about painting it.

My 1980 project is officially on hold. I will be posting some goodies for sale shortly.

Here are some quick camera phone pictures from yesterday (my friend Kevin who came with):

Great grab. The car looks pretty darn good and should look even better with a nice black interior. Best of luck with it. I will be doing alot of the same stuff when my new (to me) 86.5 arrives.

Best of luck,

Nice find. Way to move quickly on it.

I so much want to take-on another one like that! Very satisfying work to save one.

I hate the rub strips on my cars, but what can you do! My 78 looked nice without them.

Installing H4's and fixing some assorted wiring underneath the car that had been severed; headlight motor wires, temp switch on lower DS radiator, and the replacing wires to the drier refrigerant switch. Also, took an overall inventory of parts needed besides tb/wp.

Hey Michael thats a nice save you got going on,
I hope you can get it in tip top shape,
a set of Porkens chips will boost your fun factor,
if you have worn shocks replace them sooner than later,
it makes the car a lot more fun to drive,
cool color as well, goodluck with your new toy!

Thanks Stan. I can only hope to get this car to a place you would find acceptable. If you were only closer....

Once I get the car sorted mechanically (I am getting some local help on this front), switch out the interior and get it smogged and sorted, I will definitely look towards some Porken chips and an X-Pipe. I got the chance to hear first hand what they did for Zoltan944's (Sean's car).

The Porkensioner is on the short list.

The shocks are a bit saggy in the rear and I have picked up a good set of used S4 Boges coil overs to put in there until I can save up for some Bilsteins or Konis. I cannot really tell how the front shocks are doing although the car seems a little low in the front, but have a good pair of Red Boges from the front of my 80 car I can use if they prove to be weak. Again, until I can pick up a fresh set.

The color is growing on me. While not my favorite, I think I will keep the color stock as it came. I think I would like to keep it original in exterior color at least.
