Took advantage of it. I didn't buy any for my car since the oil was just changed before the sale in December.

I do mine every 6 months regardless of mileage.

Seriously?

That's just a total waste of money, dude.

Synthetic oils have been proven to last well over a year and 20,000 miles in our cars.

Do some research - it is well documented here. Links are in the New visitor FAQ thread.

OCD

If that's the case then I'll change this December as opposed to next month.

I am planning to use this stuff to top off my car as the Mobil 1 drops down in my sump, so long as it stays good-colored.

Both are synthetics w/ decent zinc content. Does anyone see a problem with that idea?

Default Offer changed?

Instead of the free case they changed the offer to $15.00 of rebate?

Hmmm. did this expire. I just tried to get on to the link and it doesn't indicate the $50 rebate.

Yep, guess they had too many takers at $50 and unlike other rebate forms these required inputting name, address, etc. and then when printed have unique bar codes and name already on them...

Got my rebate check yesterday. $29.94.

Someone mentioned the oil-burning of this stuff. Here is my experience with that:

I drove to Colorado last week for the Pike's Peak Hillclimb and some fishing. When I left, I had straight M1 in the sump. I did a couple of high-speed runs thru the desert, no issues.

On the way home, I topped off the car w/ 2 quarts of the Valvoline. I immediately noticed an oil-burning smell at speeds above about 110.

Could be just a coincidence. I did lots of dusty driving, so the car will get an oil change soon. I'll use M1 again.

That's not good.

Anyone else experience this?

I bought some but haven't used any yet. Have not receive my rebate check yet.

On that issue - is there any problems with adding this synthetic to the existing Mobile 1 currently in my engine? I had bought this VR1 syn with the plan of using it to top off, as erik had done.
