Taking a break - still making progress.

The S/C and the air box are in place. All the belts are tightened back up.

Had a hell of a time getting the S/C belt on, though. It's tight enough that I could only barely route it over the pulleys when I had the tensioner completely loose, and had the S/C just sitting in the bracket (no bolts installed). Then I had to almost remove the adjuster bolt from its link, and use a pry bar to pretension the tension roller a bit, just to have enough bolt on the other side to put the spring, washer, and nut on. Looks OK now that it's tightened up, but for a while I was thinking I didn't have the right belt.

By the way, there's a bit more space than I expected between the air box and the radiator. I added some pads (made from a cut piece of hose) to the radiator hold-down clamps to ensure the radiator would sit as far forwards as possible. That gives me 7/8" between the air box and radiator.

Well, I think I'm done for today, but not done done, unfortunately.

Got the air dam and the rest of the fans installed. Did some of the throttle body hose replumbing. Kind of stuck currently waiting on some clarifications of the remaining install steps.

Thanks.

For Saturday, maybe. We'll see. Tim called me back and walked me through the items that had me stumped. At this point it's technically installed, but I still have to put back the undertrays, fill the cooling system, and wire up the LC-1. One more hour, I think.

Default Done! (pretty much)

Pulled a late shift last night and finished the install. Finished final wiring of the LC-1 today.

The car starts fine, and there's definitely a lot more power there. Drove it to work today and a few test runs. The extra punch makes the stock suspension more obvious and is a bit of encouragement for me to work on installing the Eibach/Bilstein set I bought last fall.

Still a bit of work to do on the S/C though... trying to figure out why my idle is now running 950 - 1000, when it used to be right at 680. Tim and Mike are working with me on that. I'll post an update once we figure it out.

Cheers,
Paul

So, after this install, I had a couple of problems.

First one was a shredded drive belt about two days after installation. I replaced both rollers (Dayco 89005 is the part), and the belt. For the belt I used a Gates unit meant for the Cadillac XLR-V - K080424). I tightened the belt much less than recommended, and it's been fine since.

The other problems were a high idle, which suddenly fixed itself, and bucking under light throttle. I worked with Tim and Mike on the bucking issue, and Tim was able to duplicate the problem on another car. He ended up sending me an air straightener to mount above the MAF, and that totally solved the issue. The car is nicely drivable now, with a ton of power.
