Some wheel thoughts?
I just picked up a 1987 928S4. Before I get to the fun stuff I'm catching it up on all the maintenance items.
But....I also wanted to strategize on the fun bits too.
The car came with these gold BBS style 16x9 wheels. Which I knda like the look, but also think it's very dated.
Considering doing a much updated version of the wheel in an 18" for a timeless look. So far all I can find is 19" that might fit.
Anyone else this will look cool?
As is sits now.

I love BBS wheels on just about any P-car. However, for my tastes, the gold color dates them in a bad way. Some LM'S would look cool for a more modern laced look.

Race Inc RPK 038 rims.
I had them on my car for awhile as you can see in the pic.
They look amazing, but the offsets are not optimal.
45ET front, cant recall rears, but I do remember that I ended up seriously rolling the fenders for them to fit.
The BIGGEST problem, and the reason I got rid of them was because the lugnut opening was not large enough for regular lug nuts. So you have to get lugs that require a special key. Then on the back, you cannot get the key into the opening. So you have to hold the key specially to be able to get the nut on and properly tightened.
In my honest opinion, get a different rim. One designed for studs and nuts, not bolts like the 996 uses.
The other thing to note about these rims is that they are HEAVY!!!
Additionally, I was not happy with the selection of tires available. In the end I wound up with 27.1" rear tire diameter. It was OK for that car as it was lightened. But I would not recommend this for most daily drivers.
I did love the look of them, but imho, your better off with something else.

Well, I decided on something a bit different. These are 19s. Rears are 295, fronts are 255.
My plan is to find a nice soft gold color for the spokes, leaving the rim lip polished. Then paint the calipers red.
Thoughts.
