Its all in post #1. '80-95 MY gearbox type production numbers are in their own scrollable table in it. All numbers are based on Porsche PET program data which is by far best available source. As mentioned in master VIN thread many other sources list how many cars were made in each calendar year. Which is totally wrong approach to find out how many cars were made in each model year. For '91 MY numbers are:
Code:
1991
928 S4 ROW LHD Aut 927
928 GT ROW LHD 5sp 470
928 S4 ROW RHD Aut 207
928 GT ROW RHD 5sp 46
928 S4 USA LHD Aut 242
928 GT USA LHD 5sp 145 2037
I remember when this thread was initially posted, but I don't think I saw the breakdown by LHD/RHD/5-Spd/Aut...
That is some great stuff there. Thanks again Erkka!!!
Yes, both US and Canadian cars share same sequence and for limiting rows in table they have been combined into just two numbers. If you check master VIN thread there is country code specific split of GT's for C02 US, C03 California (for those years where California and for '90 MY also New York cars I believe were different than rest of the US model) and C36 Canada with all ROW market models too.
As the 928 Specualists website has a lower number just for the US.
Specialist numbers very likely include Canadian cars in them. They seem smaller for some model years since almost half of the MY production was actually made in previous calendar year. In any case those numbers are useless in determing how many cars were made in each model year.
Using the same proportions it would seem approximately 99 5 speeds came into the US.
Exact number is 139 US and only 6 Canadian GT's for '91 MY. Thats what factory build but some of the cars might have ended up who knows where.
