Should we start adding the VIN of vehicles that we know have been totally dismantled to keep an accurate record of what is still on the road?

Donor Vehicle: 1989 Porsche 928 GT.
Interior Color: Black, Exterior Color: Black
Vin # WP0JB0924KS861191
Currently it's parts on Ebay and therefore no longer on the road.

Thanks, I don't see any mention of where the original numbers for the GTSs were credited to me or the 928 Registry? Before you guys were able to mine the info from PET/Carfax or where ever, I figured out the VINs using Carfax and ran a Carfax on each of them? Just curious that's all.

I did see this and although the site hasn't been updated with this information I did make a note about it. Thank you.

Interesting idea to track VINs no longer driveable. Enough time has passed that even a fair number of GTS's are likely out of service. Since we only had 406 NA GTS VINs, I have often wondered how many are still in use ...

Is there any where shown the breakdown of auto vs 5 speed for each year? Or even more granular of colors etc?

The site itself may be, but the content has its own ownership.

Wikipedia is missing many other source infos also like practically all Porsche yearly changes documents for tech changes etc. Practically every sentence in 928 article has some info in them which would need to be linked to some factory document or website like Rennlist master VIN thread. Puting all sources in there would be too much work.

It's common knowledge that auto's break down more than 5 speeds due to the fact that there is more of them!

Erkka,
For 1991
I did not see the breakdown of auto vs 5 sp. but that there was a total production of 2,037 with a US/Canada production of 387 and ROW of 1650.
The 928 Specialists website has a total production of 2,055 with a US production of 263 and ROW of 1792.
Is the auto vs 5 sp in a later post than post # 1?
Thanks

Its all in post #1. '80-95 MY gearbox type production numbers are in their own scrollable table in it. All numbers are based on Porsche PET program data which is by far best available source. As mentioned in master VIN thread many other sources list how many cars were made in each calendar year. Which is totally wrong abroach to find out how many cars were made in each model year. For '91 MY numbers are:

Code:
1991
928 S4 ROW LHD Aut 927
928 GT ROW LHD 5sp 470
928 S4 ROW RHD Aut 207
928 GT ROW RHD 5sp 46
928 S4 USA LHD Aut 242
928 GT USA LHD 5sp 145 2037

Erkka,
So these numbers are for the Canadian & US cars? As the 928 Specualists website has a lower number just for the US.
Using the same proportions it would seem approximately 99 5 speeds came into the US.
Does that make sense?
Thanks
