Updated - Cross Country Road Trip via US-20 July 23rd to ?
UPDATE - Change in route, I will now be heading East on US-20 hoping to be at Sharks in Hell by August 5th-7th. So if you are on or near that route and would like to meet me and my improving car, please do drop me a PM.

new pictures of my 82
Repeated post from the end of th original post from back in Sept/October. Search for $2500 82 928 to read the whole thing.
So I am the guy who bought Gerry's $2500 82 back in September/October of last year. After many trials and tribulations, a new engine and much tender love and care from Brian and Keith at Euro Trends in Ceres, my brother and I will be driving this beauty from SF up to Vancouver/Seattle for a 2 week road trip July 9th - 23rd of this year
1. Any suggestions for great stretches of road we should drive? Suggested overall routes as well
2. Hiking and good stops along the way?
3. Listers who would be around the bay area, Pacific NW, Oregon and be prepared to help with any potential issues we might have/sofas to sleep on/gardens to camp in!
4. Suggestions for spare parts I should gather up together. I'm gonna get the car as prepped as I can before we leave but you never know!
Thanks to all who are keeping this car rolling!

I'm available in the Seattle area if you need help, etc. PM me for contact information.
Stop for a meal in Ashland, Oregon.
The trip up the Washington coast and through the Olympic peninsula is great. Combine that with a Black Ball ferry ride from Port Angeles to Victoria BC, then either BC ferry from Vancouver Island to Vancouver BC, or Washington State Ferry from Sydney BC to Anacortes.
Here's a link to a route through the Oregon countryside.

Port Townsend, Washington is fun.
A stop at Griots in Tacoma to see their racing Porsches is pretty neat.

Come a little further North for gr8 CDN hospitality, gr8 beers etc etc.
Be fantastic to have a 928 gathering over the North border this summer.
BTW.....yes, the snow should be gone by then

Thanks Bill and Malcolm. I'll be in touch nearer the time. Looks like we are looking at a route from Napa up the pacific highways (101) etc) Mt Hood, Mt Ranier, San Juan Islands, Vancouver. Looks like there is a pretty vibrant 928 community in the PNW so we should be good to go.

Further update
So the trip is getting closer and closer and I am really excited about it now. Gonna head cross country from Seattle over towards CT over the course of a month I think. So the timeline is July 23rd to August 23rd ish. I am more tempted by the Northern route passing through Glacier National Park.
If anyone would like to meet up along the way, provide mechanical support, advice for last minute checks for a car, I would be most grateful. PM me or reply to this thread. Its been a long road with this car and I am determined to make the most of it now its somewhat together!
Thanks

I'm around too most of July except week 3 (Denver). Happy to get together locally or go for a drive.
Some say in years past a July gathering called Heckowee brought out some sharks. Here's a thread/video by Adam: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-07-video.html

Simon,
Is this still what you are thinking from Calif?
The coastal roads- hwy 1, and then 101 farther north, are terrific roads but suffer from traffic and often-sparse passing opportunities. The scenery is unbeatable however.
If you come up the coast then you have a choice to make north of Astoria, Oregon: Either continue up the coast on 101 clockwise around the west and north sides of the Olympic Mountains (with a detour for some hiking in the Hoh Valley), or through Olympia to Puget Sound and the Seattle area, and north or east from there.
If you go clockwise around the Olympics then you can catch the ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria, tour around Vancouver island a bit, then either catch the BC ferry to Vancouver or the Wash state ferry to Anacortes via the San Juan's. Heading east you can either pick up I-90 from Seattle, or US-2 over Stephens Pass, or SR-20 over the North Cascades. The latter is our favorite, by far.
If you are not in a hurry then you can stay on SR-20 to the WA/ID line and pick up US-2 to Glacier Park, or head north into Canada through Jasper & Banff and back down through Waterton and Glacier Parks, then down to Yellowstone and a visit with Ed, and yikes! You've still got most of the country left...
If you do come through the San Juan's then you are most welcome here, I'll PM our contact info.
Cheers, Jim

Hwy 101 around the Olympic Penninsula as Jim says is simply amazing. Weather should be stunning also. Hopefully you'll update your route and see who locally wants to go for a drive along.
