While the stripe may not be my choice, I don't see a problem with a nice set of 19" wheels. Chuck Z has 19" s on his and it looks awesome.

I think my biggest fear with a 19" wheel would be messing up my suspension in some way. From the sounds of it, those who have fitted 19's may not be having these issues.

Just trying to help others and mostly crucified for my efforts. No skin off my teeth though. You will find that there are many people here that are not too shy to tell you what you should/shouldn't do to your car. Some of it will be helpful - some not so much. Bottom line - it is your vehicle so do what gives you the most pleasure. Welcome to the community.

There's a 928 in the autotrader that is blue with a white stripe down the middle. It looks tastefully done actually. I will see if I can dig up the link.

What's going on at the back of the car - is that a late model spoiler mounted above the OB spoiler?

I had 19s on my 81 w/ 86 engine for a long time. Didnt like the lugnuts I had to use though. So I swapped them for Carrera III

I tracked the car with them and never had a problem. That was with 1000# springs front and 500# then up to 600# in the rear.

The one person who has a stripe down his car is ZUES+

It may very well be a nice car. I just wonder why the owner only has the hood portion of the bra on the vehicle - is it hiding some damage? Seems odd. I would think if he invested the time and money for that look that he would have gone with a clear bra.

Hi frank.
I don't know why so many people here are so opposed to stripes on a 928. I don't think they look bad. In fact the factory type rocker stripes I think looks good. Makes the car look even lower.

BUT...be sure the fuel lines, PS lines are changed. They always LOOK fine until you bend them and see all the cracks. All those fluids will produce fire....fire bad!

Also its an S4 auto so release the TT pressure at the flywheel. Thrust bearing failure BAD too. And of course you have the timing belt issue to deal with. These few things can cause a catastrophic failure that can be HARD to recover from.

Lets see some pics!

+1 On the flexplate pinch collar release described above. There are procedures to accessing the lower bell housing. It is easy and can be done in a half hour.

If you also want to be extra safe, do it every 6 months.

People here care more than you know. Well beyond one's tastes and immediate inclinations, they see safefy issues with potential to harm the owner (or passengers). And we love the cars too, so we want to see it safe, as well.
We're very fundamental, because we care. We care to see you safe and in a 928, enjoying your ownership experience for the long haul.
To me, that requires seeing past what may appear to be an adverse opinion.

Is that a bra or carbon fiber wrap?

Dean - just so we are clear, I don't have any stripes on my car. Not that there is anything wrong with stripes. Pics - of my car? I have some old ones - but nothing since I started refreshing everything. My car got very infrequent use and sat in storage for long periods because of my prior obligations. My situation has changed and I am going over everything so that I can make my car back into a daily driver. I have already identified the fuel line issue - will add the PS lines.
