Very interesting to me as I purchased the 1988 S4 from the guy who takes care of Gates car collection. The car fax showed nothing of this wreck. Also the picture shown is not a S4 but it also could be just a photo for the story. I am just hoping it isn't mine they are speaking of. How could I find out for sure? Never tell by looking at it.
This might explain when my car is on 4 jack stands, it will always teeter 1/2" front to rear.

For what it's worth, I was the passenger in this one:

Sold my 911. Feel much safer now in my 928, should it ever be on the road again...

Drinking and doing 180mph plus! Wow I guess he couldn't help himself!
Been there but not at 180plus.
Sounds like you guy's were having a fun day until the law intervened.

Sorry, but I have to disagree on the statement Stephen made "Sounds like you guy's were having a fun day until the law intervened."
If the driver was drunk the passenger should not have let him drive ! Putting not only your their lives at risk but others in a 3,000 pound projectile moving at 180+ MPH is not fun.

How could an officer pull out from a dead stop and end "the chase" within 2 miles or so??? The police report is a load of crap...
The officer himself called "the media" within minutes the and the lynching of a guy who's got a Lambo instantly began. Howard Stern made fun of it all the next day. Maxim & a few other publications mentioned it. It was a felony stop, and I was cuffed after having a rather shaky Glock .40 aimed at me for a few seconds. Not very fun. Notorious, perhaps, but not quite amusing I'd think... (I had marks from the over-tightended cuffs on my wrists for at least 3 weeks...)
In reality, he had just blasted it for a few seconds, at the absolute wrong time. These cars, back then, were barely were able to hit 170mph on the longest, straightest part of the Poconos race track. A drunk, on a curvy poorly maintained secondary highway just can't possibly do the speeds that were claimed, whatever the young officer calculated with his stopwatch...
Regardless, I was a bit traumatized myself with the whole "what could have happened" stuff for years. I ditched my 911SC Targa within weeks because of it all. Honestly, I didn't drive any car much at all for about 2 years after "the incident" and certainly don't endorse that kind of stuff. Stuff happens though, I guess. Obviously though I'm glad it wasn't a whole lot worse...
Now soberly piloting a laser-jamming S4 on a turnpike with light traffic, well... lol

The ironic thing is that he didn't even write the crappy software. When IBM came looking for an operating system for their new PC all Microsoft had was Basic - no operating system, so he ripped off DOS from Tim Paterson.
Now he's following the path of the robber barons of the last century - trying to create a 'legacy' by being a philanthropist with his ill gotten gains.
Can't think of anyone I despise more than Bill Gates.

That's ok. Tim ripped off CP/M.
But..Tim also worked FOR Mirosoft, one of his ventures was bought by Microsoft..and later he worked again for MS...they certainly seem on friendly terms....historically. MS also purchased the rights to market DOS in I think..1980.
Gates didnt do anything wrong.

I have a customer who recognized my 928 one day, It turns out he was a corporate tech for Porsche who would travel around the world and work on elite customers Porsche's. I know my car was part of that group. He has promised me his special tools and manuals as he is no longer with Porsche. I will find out from him about this story.
