I'd grab it if it were forsale in a month and a half from now. Transporting, taxes, duty and all.

I may be down that way this weekend... a joy ride, I mean test drive, may be in order. If you are reading this seller, I really am a serious buyer, I promise...

Maybe I should send the seller a message through eBay and ask him to bring it up to Cypress on Saturday and we can all report back on it.

Invite to GTG sent. If the car shows, we'll look it over and report back.

In a way, I'm glad they do. Let's me know how the car is in real life and not just seeing the polish/primping. Just me though.

I spoke with the seller, very nice guy... was about to hit BIN myself but decided to wait. The car is (for me at least) in need of water pump / timing belt (last done at 55K miles), and he says the engine is burning oil requiring replacement of some quarts every month or so. Also has a leak in the AC evaporator, requiring regular charging of the R134 (not an issue if you live in a cooler climate, but $2,000 repair if you want to fix it) The paint also has some burn off of the clear coat on the hood.

Price / value in the eye of the checkwriter of course... I think its a nice $25K GTS that needs another 4-5K for known issues, with the engine oil being an open concern that could have to be dealt with for some $ in the future. Might still be a good buy, I'm going to sleep on it and see how I feel in the AM (assuming its still available of course:-)

Hmm, I'm having deja vu all over again.

Seriously, though, this car sounds like a twin to mine, with a better interior color. The biggest issue to me would be the clear coat, but that's a lotta car for $25K....

Living in LA the Air Con is a big issue for me, and leaks like that tend to get worse with time not better. I might also have trouble sleeping well with the engine oil issue... could be minor, but you never know.

But as you say, a lot of car for the money for sure.

I can see Willhoit buying it, putting $10k into it and then listing it for $65k...

Ah...."I might also have trouble sleeping well with the engine oil issue... could be minor, but you never know. ...." Actually we do know and it is NOT minor but is an excellent opportunity to upgrade to a stroker motor

Too many miles for Wilhoit to get involved esp with an oil burning issue and bad paint. You can not "restore" the odometer reading.

It's just $50K away from being a $30K car....

I dunno... all 928's burn oil to some degree, with GTS's known for it at less than 1 year old. Color sand the hood and respray with clear & despite mileage... the interior doesn't show it, the 5-speed is VERY desirable AND it's only had 2 owners -so the entire history is known.
Worth the miles in my book...

Maybe if I put the engine from my car into it and make it a GTS bodied supercharged GT. I always liked dark blue better than black... plus it has the GTS transmission cooler... hmm...

Dan-

Do it, you won't regret it at all. But ship the GTS home and pull its motor without even looking at it too hard, and stick it in the '91 so you can move the '91 in and out of the garage once in a while.
