I just heard this morning, that a super nice red 89 GT is or will be for sale here in Northern California. If that's what you are looking for, you might want to ping Bill Ball and see, if he can get you in touch with the seller.

This car is so nice, it must go to an enthusiast who takes good care of it. In fact, it's probably still way too nice to become a daily driver... and definitely too nice to be painted matte black.

But instead of painting, you could have the car done in matte black vinyl film. Then, if it ever starts looking shiny, or you get tired of it, you'd just remove or re place the film. It's also a lot cheaper than a paint job - which runs about $10k on a 928, including rubber and trim pieces.

If this isn't a troll, you're going to spend a lot of money you'll never get back.. which makes no sense given your comments about modifying a bmw being expensive.

Start with getting an S4 up to reliable-daily-driver standard.. it'll cost $12k as a minimum.

Hilton, maybe I was not clear (my apologies), I am looking at the 928 because it is not made anymore and is unique, cost is not an option in this scenario, but for me spending the same money on new cars every 2-4 years is silly (in my mind and I am tired of following the norm)...I am not a troll (hahahha)... 12k is not an issue for me, I budgeted more actually...for me getting the best non problematic car is not fun, I want something I need to spend time working on and can spend money on...I just dont want to spend it on a car that changes every 4 years...I hope that clears that up brother... I always loved the lines on the 928 S4/GTS... my main goal is getting a car that I will love because it is unique and I can modify... I believe the 928 is that car...

The trouble with the GT and GTS is that they are rather rare and quite popular among 928 aficionados. Good ones are expensive, but once you modify them, their value plummets.

What part of the country are you in?

I live in Miami, but it is not important where I buy from, I can have it shipped etc... the S4 version may be the best for the price for me then and I can let the modifications begin... : ) Not concerned with the S4 to GTS HP difference as I will add a S/C or Turbo to it later...

My friend has a MAT black 911 and the paint looks awesome...anyone seen a 928 in MAT black...?

Yeah, no need to pay a premium for a GT or GTS, if you are eventually going to supercharge it. Might as well get the newest and nicest s4 you can find, and go from there...

I had the same feeling about the 928. I get tired of seeing the same identical cars on the road. Especially true with BMW, since their design doesn't change that drastically over the years.

The 928 can be super-comfortable, super-fast, and very exotic looking.

Brothers I am sold on the 928 S4, I just need to find one in the US that is in ok to good condition, needs paint (no problem I want to re-paint anyway) and needs rims, and interior work. I hope I dont make anyone mad but I learned how to carbon fiber parts with carbon fiber material, quite easy if you take your time and adds a cool look to the car...I PROMISE no under the car bright green/red/blue lights... : )

First maintenance, then paint, then rims and interior...finally exhaust...I am excited I see 10 or so on auto.yahoo.com for around 10k so its not a lot to choose from but some good prices...

If anyone has any recommendations to other sites with 928 S4 for sale please let me know...

Friend, welcome. My car is 21 years old, well sorted and has never been towed due to any failure. I drive it daily (except if I know it's going to rain) from spring to knowledge of when the first snow flake is expected. It's got 213K km and pulls hard on the go pedal. Engine is bullet proof if taken care of. Can't say the same for too many other cars. Great choice and like Sean said, if its sorted it can be a daily driver.

Im not sue why it matters that BMW keeps re-doing the M3. if you like your car, then why not keep it? Why should a new style make you like yours less? You car is what it is and does not change because something newer and shinier is available. Silly reason to dump an awesome car IMHO.
