selling 2005 M3 to get a S4...?

E46 M3 coupe SMG in white for about 20.000euros registered and taxed in Finland would give me a reason to sell my 928 for the M3. Immediately.
But you need to know that here we have to pay about a minimum of 13.000-14.000euros for import tax in addition to car price right now... So it is not very realistic idea right now with current E46 M3 prices.

It matters to me, I like my car but I want a older car that is no longer built...an exotic per say that I can modify and toy with. The newer cars are more technologically advanced and require special equipment at times.
Put it this way, I have a Ducati because I love that I do not see them everyday, I can modify it and it will look good 10 years from know...the same applies to me for a car, the 928 S4 is what I have chosen to enjoy for a long time.
The 928S4 due to its age and mods it will need is a challenge, my M3 is not. Nor is my M3 unique anymore to me when a new one sits at the light next to me every day or two...they are somewhat common these days in Miami and California where I spend most of my time...
argghh anyway... now time to search for one, I have given myself a month or so to search and make a good decision as to which one and where...
if anyone has links other than yahoo or ebay for an S4 for sale please let me know....
Also the power output possibilities with an 928 modified seem much more than what I could get out of my E46M3...this is just a bonus...

I will tell you this is the S4 will be heck of alot more reliable than that BMW, ask me how I know... Don't get me wrong the 928 was a dream car of mine when I was younger and I'm thankful to have a few of them but the newer cars will run circles around them, especially your M3. If you are looking for a classy ride that is timeless in design and is fairly easy to repair the 928 is a great car for that.

My former fun-car was an e46 M3, and I now have an 88 S4 with some hidden secrets inside the the motor.
I had both cars for several months while I debated which to keep long term.
They were completely different driving experiences. The M3 was vastly more modern, taller, lived on high rpms, had a dozen electronic systems helping the engine/suspension/gearbox/brakes dance perfectly. It was a lot of fun.
The 928 was lower, wider, and for lack of a better word had a much greater sense of "gravitas" - both in the efforts to move the controls and the sense of being in something "special". It was louder, smelled like old leather, had nothing but ABS to assist the driver, and darn it I fell in love with the thing.
Both cars cost plenty to maintain and operate. The 928 is old enough that I can get collector-car insurance on it for cheap. It's probably harder to find someone local who knows how to properly care for a 928. But that S54 motor on the M3 ain't simple or cheap to work on either.
The M3 probably did a better job of being the ultimate compromise between daily-driver and weekend track car. Since I have a very pedestrian Acura TSX for daily duty, I decided to move to something a bit more special for the fun car.
And whatever you do, don't talk yourself into boring and stroking the motor

I'd love to add an E46 M3 to my stable and will at some point. It is MUCH prettier than the current M3! Chris Bangle managed to pretty much ruin the entire BMW line up before he left...way to go Chris!
