Not sure when and if I will ever be able to finish my 928 build. Would entertain offers for everything if one was interested. $30k+ 550-600hp zero time 6.0l, 0 time trans, $27k worth of custom body molds and panels, HRE race wheels, boxes upon boxes of parts, Completed tube chassis...everything I have. If not it will be finished years from now. Reason...I am so focused on my racing career I have no time to work on this project which has well over $100K invested to this point and likely needs another
$15K to complete it, would entertain reasonable offers. Finished out this is a 2000lb car with 14" slicks all the way around...fast seems like an understatement. Just saying, J

That is true of all mid-engine cars and 1 of the reasons why I don't like them.

I own a hossfeld bender, pretty cheap, yet very useful. But this is a six of one, half dozen of another case. Wall thickness of the tubing should determine safety/strength not round vs. square.

Square tube just LOOKS boxy, too angular I do wonder why a single seat car needs such a wide chassis which then requires a couple steps in ,cuts and welds to the lower frame rail for front wheel clearance. But yes much time and effort in this project.

I would expect the chassis is as wide and awkward looking as it is, because he has to pick up the original suspension pick up points. He has also left plenty of room around the sides of the engine for the inevitable twin turbochargers, add lightness, add boost! :-)

Also in my humble opinion it is easier to work with square tube when trying to create 2 identical mirror image chassis rails.

It is a matter of human frailety the longer it takes to achieve something, the more chance of becoming despondent and giving up, but if progress is timely, the satisfaction and advancement are self motivating and the project continues. So sometimes we need to lower our standards or change our methods to see the project complete, rather than abandoned. Better to have completed a mid engined 928 powered vehicle than have a pile of parts that COULD be a tube frame 928. BTW this is not a slur on Jason Hart, just an example.

Thus my home built twin turbo is not as lovely as John Kuhns' but I'm pleased with it.

Cheers Roy

Hey - where's JB been?

Hasn't been by here since October last year.

Is he OK?

If I could get my hands on an accurate 917 body, I'd do something similar to this in an instant.
