For those who are either waiting on machined parts for their order, or planning on placing a new order, I have secured some CNC time this weekend, so will have everything on hand to fullfill orders again starting monday morning.

I do need to make the public announcement that I will need to reserve the right to substitute SeaBoard for StarBoard as the market dictates to keep the prices stable. The material used on the moutning plate is a marine-grade HDPE and the pricing for this material is somewhat volatile. SeaBoard and StarBoard are equivalent materials from different companies. I will use whichever is available at the lower price at the time of order to try and keep the costs on the product stable. This next batch of parts will be made from SeaBoard, as I was able to get a fair price on it this week.

Thanks
Hans

EXCELLENT! Were you able, sent an email on this as well though sure you are busy so thought would post here, to find out if you could upgrade mine to the larger sub? You had emailed prior you might have an extra of the larger ones due to another buyer possibly backing out..

Can email or PM me..

THANKS!

Kenny

I have used SeaBoard and StarBoard on my boats. Both are excellent materially and should make no difference whatsoever to our implementation. I say use whatever is least expensive and readily available.

Sharkwoofer installed! I decided to go with the 5 channel XR-5S, and coupled with my boston speakers and alpine ipod unit... BAM! this baby rocks. now all the sound deadener i added to the car makes it worth the expense! the only issue i ran in to was powering the fan. i used a relay triggered by the headunit remote on wire, to run the amp remote and fan... well the fan was back feeding noise in to the amp... (fan was wired to amp ground, and amp remote ports). so i moved the ground and still had the same issue. so for now the fan is not hooked up, i need to figure out a better switched 12v source to power it.

Good to know- I think I'll pull switched 12V off of my remote fuel pump relay.

I played with fitment yesterday and the only thing I ran into is that the pan head screws that come with the SR-5S are #10 x 3/4". I tried to mount the amp to the stand-offs on the Sharkwoofer and couldn't get them to 'bite'. Switched to 1" longs and no problem solved.

I ran out of energy last night after pulling out the old system. 10 year old electrical tape adhesive is not my friend....

i had that same issue, till i pushed the "topside screw" that mounts the rubber towards the screw i was inserting. works great. then when its bottomed out. bingo baby! rubber isolated amp! :-)

Got back from the CNC shop a few minutes ago. I cut four of the 77-89 mounting plates, four of the 90+ mounting plates, six of the Dayton 10" sub adapter rings, and two blanc adapters. I also have four spare fiberglass enclosures on hand, so the next couple orders should be very fast turn-around.

Also, Jake has now been the first person to install one of these on their own. He has identified that the brush noise from the fan can be introduced into the amplifier if using the remote turn-on from the head unit. I am investigating some simple noise-filter options to take care of this, but until then, using the switched +12v point for the fuel pump under the protective plastic cover should be a good temporary option. I did not have the noise problem on my car, so it could be a case-by-case issue. I will be looking into it.

Thanks
Hans

Had a few minutes, so thought I would post some pics of Kenny's enclosure being assembled. This is the first unit to use the SeaBoard components and also the first with the new CNC program which countersinks all the bolt holes, it also has the revised Dayton adapter.

Its almost done, just needs to have the adapter screwed to the enclosure.

The new CNC program is great, and has significantly reduced assembly time, and the fit and finish is improved as there is no manual operation. Also, the SeaBoard ended up working out very well. Even though they are similar materials (Both HDPE) the density seems higher on the SeaBoard. The edges came out burnished and very attractive. The StarBoard seemed to machine easier, but has a bit of a cell structure visible in the edges.

To clarify, this is the 10" Dayton mentioned in the original post.

Thanks
Hans

Doing a bit of research tonight trying to find a replacement for the BM-MKIII until the next production run. It appears as though there is an MB-Quart 12" driver that will fit and play well with the enclosure size. It is model number RLP304. I have never tried this sub, and so cant comment beyond the fact it will fit, and is specced to play into the volume provided by the fiberglass enclosure. It may be an interesting option for someone.

Thanks
Hans

Ran across another 12" candidate, looks like it should work based on all the published specifications, but I have not tried it - Earthquake SWS-12X:
