Default diff rear cover gasket

is the gasket neccessary or will silicone suffice?i can always make one too.thanks

Use a gasket. The surface and consequent gluing effect will make it a PITA to get off again if you need too. Nothing wrong with a homemade gasket for this application if you use the right material, which you'd probably get at an engineering or auto part outlet ... although I wouldn't think the genuine would be a lot of $.

Gasket costs less than a tube of silicone.

Just buy the gasket, not worth doing twice.

yes ,used the blue gasket maker permatex.supposed to be better than making one.we will see.lol

I used perminatex as well, the same stuff we used on the block and it seemed to work for many years!
