Spec clutch break in...

Put a Spec Stage 3+ with solid puck on my 944 Turbo with 400+ rwhp. Also had resurfaced aluminum lightweight flywheel and all the rotating clutch bits balanced. Break-in and then getting used to a instant-on clutch took a long time. Even at 4500 miles it was almost impossible to creep through a parkinglot or fast food drive-thru without shuddering like crazy. But normal driving was fine except for a shuddery start every once in a while. The parkinglot/drive thru shuddering made me want a lesser clutch. Ended up selling the car at 4500 miles into the clutch. Got the setup from Lindsey Racing and they felt the solid puck reduced the shuddering.

We had a customer with a new clutch "weld" one of his semi-metallic pucks to the flywheel. Broke it loose, resurfaced the flywheel and educated him a bit more on the proper use of a clutch and it has worked flawlessly since. It will shudder a bit in reverse but only if you are trying to back up a grade or the temperature is elevated. This is a single disc, sintered metal/ceramic puck system and it does grip exceptionally well.

I have a full face Spec Stage 3+ in my pickup. It has a 500hp LS1 with a T56. It was broken in with just regular driving over a couple hundred miles. It's worked fine ever since. This was with a resurfaced factory flywheel.
My 200 20v has a 6 puck sprung hub with a HD pressure plate. That clutch is probably more like what you have. The flywheel was resurfaced when I put it together. I broke it in with stop and go traffic. This has always seemed to work the best for me. Basically just get stuck in traffic. This clutch has always had a very aggressive engagement. It's not a switch, but it doesn't really slip much either. It is less juddery when it engages now, but it's still not smooth. It does hold very well though.

I've posted several times about my single disc Spec 3+.
Break-in was at least 500 miles. Getting stuck in rush hour traffic (as frustrating as it is) is probably the best thing for break in.
The 1st gear shudder takes for ever to go away, but it will. Reverse is worse.
I'm guessing I've got about 15k on my clutch now and while there's no shudder, it sometimes makes a chirping noise.
If you have any specific questions, let me know.

I installed the Spec 2 clutch with Spec aluminum flywheel in my 1986 944 NA and noticed a shudder as well in 1st gear. I actually noticed it more when I down shifted from 3rd to 2nd gear going around 25mph. I didn't drop the clutch, but eased it into 2nd gear and noticed a shudder/wobble. I've only got maybe 90/100 miles on the clutch. I'm always avoiding traffic, lol, but I guess I'll get in some traffic to break this clutch in. Besides the shudder, It grips great from gear to gear and I can feel the difference in t he flywheel- being it weights 8 pounds less; along with the improved torque.
